| | | a well known drain(judging by the graffing) those pillars are huge. does anyone know why this particular creek had this built.others around it arent nearly as impressive.is it needed or was it built then realised that it was overkill hence the others being so small?1.

pics from the inside didnt turn out very well so i didnt post them.there is two enclosed waterfalls and one open one(from the top the main flow travels in a pipe bottom right corner pic 1)with the acoustics inside, the water sounds spectacular but a little dissapointing when you actually see its such a small flow. had to go thru twice as my mate lost his sunnys in there the first time.

i understand that bit but am puzzled as to the size mate, these r 5 times bigger than the ones around it,and its the only one with an underground section, and its big enough to drive a car in there.

| | | Bit tragic the way some sites promote themselves at popular explore sites. Amusingly urbexcrew.org no longer exists. There's a UK/Low countries website that leaves playing cards promoting their site at various places. sad.

All good, looks like their hosted off UER.ca anyway. What I meant is that image number six is on it's side, somewhere along the line you need to rotate it so it's the right way up. You can do this with whatever program you use to view the image, even the basic Windows viewer should have a 'curved arrow' button down the bottom.

| | | The creek is a seemingly unnamed trib (the next creek North is Shrimptons but i cant find a name for the Hercs Creek) of the Lane Cove River. It runs under a rubbish dump (thus the methane warmings and leachate pipework). There's another big drain upstream of it ;)

i thawt you guys didnt give out locations,a good idea for many reasons. the rubbish dump isnt over the drain but a few hundred metres away from it,it is a council depot nowadays. was the dump directly over the top in the past?is this why the creek was put under ground/fill? there is a name

by you guys you mean uer members or .... ? hercs is known by anyone who googles 'sydney drain' along with a half dozen others. even your use of 'hercs' in the title suggests some casusal familiarity with the name ? anyhow, no science degree required. google map, see blue line indicating water, satellite view for canals or grates etc, rinse and repeat. if we knew anything worth imparting its long been imparted via google caches and searches. or posted somewhere online. h

| | | so why cant just anyone access the location database on this site? i just find things the old fashioned way, with my eyes as i drive/walk around while at work or whatever.i didnt really think about looking on the net till i saw the graffiti and stickers etc on the walls of places like this. then i found pics and this site and that these places have names like hercs etc. i think finding things without being told where they are is more fun,but i have never been told where to look either so i dont know if thats just as good. also from some reading on the net i found that places get locked tight, vandalised and people get hurt when locations are made easy for everyone to find. thats why i asked the question and both you and siologen gave the same answer so now i know. i wasnt looking for a fight, just inquisitive. dont forget how much fun it can be to find something all on your own whether everyone else knew it was there or not.

The bulk of Syd CC locations are listed online somewhere... as a txt doc, 300 pages long, hasnt been updated since about 2002. The current list if in excess of 500 locations i think... Most of Sydneys REALLY good stuff has long since been severely locked up... back in 2001 i must've climbed the Harbour Bridge 20 times lol. With over 1000 ppl passing thru CC in Sydney since 1991, there's not as much new stuff to find as there was in say 1999. As such you can choose to find things on your own or with the likes of the known.doc. Either way was great fun for me back in 1997
