I'll chalk on chalkboards, but I usually don't care if people know how leet I am in going someplace before them. Maybe I'll start carrying chalk with me, but meh.

| | | Chalkboards indeed. They're a good compromise between the natural urge to indicate "I was here!" and the UE ideal not to screw up abandonments.
Be careful, not safe. "Urbex- so much fun that it should be illegal." |

| | | Has anyone ever found like geocaches at abandoned locations? i was considering placing one in a well explorer frequented abandonment.

I think that a geocacher would try to have it shut down, geocachers can be little pansies if you dont follow their rules to a "T" I've had caches disabled for really dumb reasons

| | | Oh yeah I do recall so pretty lame rules they had.....maybe it's time to create an urbex geocache solely for explorers [last edit 7/17/2010 11:29 PM by Spike - edited 1 times]

That is actually a REALLY cool concept! It would be far more interesting then normal geocache and it would be a nice clean way of leaving a mark or a "I was here first" and you can see other UERs that where there.

| | | Unless they are secret geocaches, I wouldn't want the increased traffic to an abandonment.

| | | Yeah I agree with you there, it only takes one person to spot someone even close to an abandonment for it to ruin things........we have a site like that here with a lot of neighbours who just love to ring the cops

I do this for my boyfriend in this city. The caches are all private and the coords are loaded onto a simple google map, complete with little symbols and difficulties and writeups just like the website has for the official caches. Each one I place has a "not an official geocache" sticker on it and a general disclaimer that just because you found something I hid on a rooftop does not make me liable if you fall off of said rooftop. It's good fun.
