I'm out Barrie way but I'm always willing to travel. I've been meaning to hit up Toronto for a while now. I'd be down for some infiltrations if your game.

We are going to inherit the earth . There is not the slightest doubt about that. The bourgeoisie may blast and burn its own world before it finally leaves the stage of history. We Are not afraid of ruins. We who ploughed the prairies and built the cities can build again, only better next time. We carry a new world, here in our hearts. That world is growing this minute.

So, this will be my first meet. I understand where to go and when, but will everyone kinda be hanging out in a big group in the cafe, or outside? Will we stay for lunch first? How easy is it to find people there? Just looking for info from some people who have been before. I have no idea what to look forward to...

If you're on-time, they'll be inside the cafe. If you're late, they'll be outside having moved to the door hoping to inspire some decision-making after an hour of sitting and gossiping. Some buy food, some don't, the store-owners don't care. And it's easy to find, just look for the crowd of shifty-looking hoboes chatting with the internet nerds, the suicideGirl wannabes and the guy wearing a toolbelt with a Maglite, Leatherman, Blackberry, two D-Batteries, a spork and a first-aid kit making you stifle a giggle.

Sometimes we change roles, last month I dropped my shifty-looking hobo look, and went as a suicideGirl wannabe instead. It keeps things fresh.

Part of the reason I'm making sure to go to this one. I want to see the end of the universe.

the cafe is not terribly large ive been before, so i would just look for a bunch of geared-up people with lots of camera equipment.

Is there still a "SuicideGirl Wannabe" position open?

Unfortunately, I've been sticking to abandoned homes, and old stone decrepit buildings. I don't know many interesting places REALLY worth while in the area yet. I'd really like to participate in a large scale infiltration, somewhere that you could spend an entire day or more exploring, and taking photographs. If anyone has something planned, I'm free quite a bit now and I'm down for just about anything. Drop me a line.

Also, If anyone has been in the Canada Malt building at the Toronto lakefront, or know anything about it send me a PM. I LOVE that building. . . never made it in, though. The two times I've tried, the security guard from the construction site next door has thwarted my plans - threatening to call the police. Same guard each time.

I've been carrying on with miss malt for many years now. So many memories...sigh.

But it isn't as easy to get in as it used to. I've been watching it for an easier way.

Still doable now though...and you don't NEED a grappling hook.

At this point in time all the people who can get in won't do it with someone they don't know it seems. Just because it is rather sketchy right now.

But change is always inevitable.

Well, that's unfortunate. I guess I'll have to get to know you guys, starting with the 20th. Really looking forward to it. By the way, its cool if I bring another person to the T.O. meet, right?

Sweet, I figured as much. I just wanted to be 100% sure before I headed out to the TeeDot with my buddy, only to find out that the meet was a UER member thing.

P.S. Funny how? I know this will be a rather fun group of people, just from the replies. Also, are excursions planned before hand or do we just figure it out once we all get there? Please excuse my noobness.

We figure it out there. So bring gear for drains and abandoned buildings. though usually it's just buildings, no drains. sad.

And funny as in some drama. But not the bad kind, the kind that is funny to watch. I know one member going is going to annoy the shit out of another going. It's gunna be like reality tv, if reality tv was good.

Hmm, gear as in... ?

I usually just bring my camera, a flashlight, and myself. Though, I don't have a real variety of experience when it comes to UE. Only recently have I been really serious about it, exploring simple abandonments, mills, and easily accessible places. None of which require special gear ie) respirators, masks, grappling hooks, magnetic boots, or HASMAT suits.

That IS sad... drains are interesting.

everyones kit list seems to be different -- and it depends quite a bit on where you plan on going. i usually have...

  • food & water
  • gloves
  • mini first aid kit
  • multi-tool
  • flashlight & headlamp
  • dSLR camera
  • P&S camera
  • tripod or monopod
  • hat

all this in a bag of some sort, usually a a pack or a satchel. ill bring a partiulate mask

TBH, i wouldnt bother with the magnetic boots. anti-gravity boots on the other hand, are amazingly useful!

Gonna get this thread back to where it started. If any of you guys have something planned, or want to plan some infiltrations, drop me a line(as long as you don't mind exploring with a relatively inexperienced UE'r).

I'm in the Hamilton/Toronto area, pretty much available any time nowadays, and I'm up for abandonments, drains, you name it. I'm not afraid of jumping right into the deep end so to speak.

<edit>

Hmm, I may have to re-think that last sentence if I ever stumble upon a chamber while exploring a drain.lol

I'm in the Stoney Creek area. Not so note worthy for its large abandonment (lots of houses), but there are a lot of industrial sorts of complexes worth looking at.

If anyone is into that kind of stuff, drop me a line
