This article is about a building some of you know well. When I first poked around it in the early 1980s, it already looked abandoned, with old & relatively new decaying school text books actually falling out of broken windows & onto the ground outside.

Southeast Detroit? That would be Windsor. I'm pretty sure that's not Windsor, maybe he's got his cardinal directions mixed up.

no, it would be Southeast Detroit. as in Southeastern High School, etc:
http://www.google....ol+detroit&spell=1

no part of Windsor should ever be confused with any part of Detroit...

How did Southeast High School end up being Northeast of downtown?

All I meant was the guy who wrote the article made it seem like he was literally southeast of Detroit, as in the cardinal direction. Windsor is what is directly southeast of downtown Detroit. I figured he meant to say Southwest Detroit, I knew he wasn't actually in Windsor.

Dude, he meant SW Detroit. There isn't eve a grocery near Southeastern High, unless you count the Wallgreens drugstore on E. Jerrerson.

nonetheless, there is a southeastern section of Detroit.
most people call it the lower east side, including myself.

newspaper guy shouldve been more specific, but like all newspaper guys, he is forced to sound like a retard even if he isnt.

And slowly, the DMZ comes home to meet us.

no, you have no fucking clue with ~600,000 troops with 14 million land mines and 6000 heavy arty tubes and 10000+ rockets capable of carrying chemical payloads aimed at a civilian city with every 3rd shell a chemical shell, and 90,000 special operations personnel is like.

thats facing off the south korea forces and the united states forces, at a NK to SK 150:100 ratio.

it does not fucking compare to the hood of detroit.

Here's a story about a place some of you have spent time at:

http://www.clickon...567727/detail.html

I dunno that it's a great location for such a venture, and I think they'd be better off incorporating some of the structure's original design features & history & making it somewhat of a themed restaurant, but what do I know...

I vote for the "Lock up"...or maybe "The holding Tank".

I'll never forget going there to report my car getting stolen while I was exploring the Lee Plaza. I strolled in with my gear and shitty cloths on @ 5:30am and they just rolled their eyes and asked what building I was in when it happened. No way I could deny that shit.

Good times.

If they don't keep some of the character of the police precinct it's just a snobby yuppy lounge.
The Church Brewery is an epic example of structural re-use in a gentrifying neighborhood.
They have plans to convert a vacant school in a similar fashion - using what was the principal's office as a cigar lounge.

Science flies you to the Moon. Religion flies you into tall buildings.
