How do I know if someones been there already?

Ok so I've got a few GREAT places to explore....

I hate not being a full member because I want to see if they are on you database.

I hate that I broke my camera and I can't take full credit for my shots etc but I really want to know what there is in Hamilton and Burlington, and though I respect it, it's not fair.

Anyone from my area want to help me out because if not I'm roofing it again which gets me past cover charge at bars with outdoor patios but who wants to go clubbing in climbing gear?

A Classic Portrait- I set up the shot , she snapped it

Anyone from Hamilton knows this spot LOL

Chances are, people know about locations if they are as good as you say but if not it is always worth the patience that it takes to get a full membership so that you can be the first to contribute

Exploring should be about exploring, or photographing if you like. Not about being on a forum, and certainly not about boasting what cool locations you've seen. Some people do indeed have earned bragging rights, but a large part of the urbex population looks down on people who brag too much.

(That's why I don't join much on some dutch fora where bragging is the norm)

All I see so far is too much talk about great places, masturbatory claims of spider like climbing abilities and a what shoes should I buy thread.

Less talk, more action already.

Somethings you will learn very soon if you are serious about this.

1. It does not matter who has been there before if you want to go.

2. For the most part, no one cares where you have been. You might get lucky if you took great shots, posted a cool thread title but mostly only your friends will post you up.

3. After you have posted the pics of your day, the one everyone thinks sucks brings you the best memories.

4. In the end it will only matter to you where you have been.

A mirage is not an optical illusion. It is a real phenomenon, and one can take photographs of it. The interpretation of the image, however, is up to the fantasy of the human mind.

Welcome aboard. Finding new sites in the GTA isn't easy, but it can be done (pretty much assume people know it already... even small burned up shacks in the middle of a forest). It matters not where others have gone in the past, it matters only where you will go today.

If it is abandoned, the local kids have been getting drunk, smoking pot and having sex in it for months.
If it is abandoned, Manvil was already inside and took a salmon shit in the corner somewhere.
If it is abandoned, a hobo already has a stash of porn in there somewhere.
How do you think that screen got cut, that door got kicked in, that window got broken, or that lock got jammed so you could get in?
Someone has been inside.

What everyone else said.

Also, the LDB is in no way a definitive guide to locations. I know quite a few members won't post their better locations there because of new members using it as a shopping list.

The reason I want to find places no one has tried yet is because I like challenge.
Not the bragging rights.

Right now the place I'm trying to get into (scouting today) is so locked up tight that every local I've spoken with says absolutely no way I can get in without breaking in or getting caught.

I'm a climber, and a rat, I will get in. Simple as that.

I like it when people say "you can't" it's the personal feeling of breaking limits and pushing myself harder to be the one who says "Oh yes I can"

That's what I do. But if you're in the area I'm probably willing to take you on a trip...

Haha the point is when it's something I WANT to do and someone says I can't do what I want to do because it's impossible!

I get what I want. What I want is truth. So if something really IS impossible that would be nice too. I have yet to fail. I would like to have that feeling, to find my limits!

Hamilton/GTA is not where you're going to find these real challenges.

I recently got into Gitmo, with permission. Perhaps you could try it without permission. I suspect that would give you quite a challenge.

Forgive me for being a rookie on the rookie forum here, but what's Gitmo?

Might do the closed part of Chedoke Hosp because there was a tuberculosis ward that became a children's ward up in there, very creepy and I have like zombie tb flash back dreams, so I want to try to see if theres any feel left in that place!
