Wow. I explored this place about a year ago and I think I looked down that very elevator shaft. Scary. I and the rest of us had a bad feeling about the place and we left early (though it was more because we knew it was a major squat and we didn't want trouble on account of it being Detroit and all).

word. i have a close personal (explorer) friend who's been in there recently. like while popsicle guy was in there. she only popped in to take a few shots, didn't really get too far in, but still, the knowledge that a body was within maybe 100 feet of you is pretty strong.
worst i've ever seen is a headless cat. this is one of my UE nightmares.

We need to hold ourselves to a higher standard than this, this was a human being, there is a certain amount of respect which needs to be shown.
Does it matter who this person is? should we handle it differently if it is a homeless person, scrapper, drug addict or urban explorer, photographer?
They are all examples of humans.
I believe that this should go hand-in-hand with UE "Code of Ethics".

As long as we can do nothing for the poor guy, I'll definitively finish my exploration, takes my pictures and once I have left the building find a public phone to call the police.
I dont care much for the dead... but I care for the livings, someone somewhere maybe looking for this guy, it will make their grieving easier once the body if found and, if a crime was committed it give the police some clues.

the body wasn't overlooked. it was, however, a popsicle that wasn't going anywhere...as in walking or decomposing. dead body finders of course come under uncomfortable police questioning. is it really so ethically absurd that someone finding a human popsicle might want to take a day to think about how such a report would effect his/her life?

I disagree. You don't have to get involved. You can dial 911 from a payphone at least. There's no high horse. People are just fucked up animals just like all the other animals.

I am advocating that you simply contact the authorities. I a suggesting that you do your duty as a human.
what IF this person was missing? what IF people are looking for them? You can speculate all you want about who that person MIGHT be but in the end you dont know.
I am not a victim of either what you say, I am a decent human being. I realize that there is nothing that can be done with the dead, hell, finish your explore or hockey game, or whatever.. just take a second of your time to do what is right, no moral compasses, no high horses, just one human to the next.
"Uncomfortable police questioning?" haha! maybe you have been watching TV?
call 911 from a payphone and be done with it.

It's important to contact authorities the moment you find something like that, so that the corpse can be quickly removed to a hospital for treatment.
As many as 60% of all dead people go on to make a full recovery, if treated in time.
Not many people know that.
