|  | | | I present you with some photos I took on my last trip to Iowa of a local school.
This school was erected in 1923 in the small town of Buck Creek and was eventually acquired a large gymnasium to hold basketball games that is adjacent to the building. The old gym in the basement then was converted into a lunch hall, boys locker rooms became the kitchen, and the old stage then was walled off to create the kindergarden room. It has four floors and stone stairways. Later the county had created another Elementary school in Monticello,closer to town, leaving the Buck creek school pretty much abandoned and neglected.

| | | | I suspect I know who posted these pictures. She made a promise to me and the Delaware County Sheriff's Dept. that she would pull all of these photos from the internet. I recognize the school desk with the wires hanging down from the ceiling as one of her favorites. She entered it into a Fotoweek contest and won first place in the landscape category. She won $250. I am glad she shared half of her winnings with me. She has been told not to come back for another visit.Hopefully, she has learned to respect the rights of privacy of other people.

We don't hear from the owners of these buildings very often, welcome!
I think I can speak for most of us here when I say that we go through buildings and post pictures of them because we think there is beauty there. Most buildings in that condition are that way because their owners care nothing about them-- It seems you are an exception to that rule.
Obviously we've started out on the wrong foot here. Let me be the first to say that your school is beautiful, and I, for one, would love to know more about it! Please share!

I have to say I am sorry on behalf of the poster for the misunderstanding's created here. People on this site do not randomly go into places to just romp around and snap photo's. We simply take pictures of things that are truly beautiful and pure.
Not many areas in society hold such places, so we find it important to share our visits when such great finds are unearthed.
I hope that you find yourself welcome here, as many fellow explorers would love to know more about your school. It is truly a piece of work. I would love to see more of it if you do in fact have access. Not many places like this are still around, and certainly not this pretty.

| | | | I guess it is all fun and games when you do not realize (or care) that you are invading someone's private space. It is easy to classify a building as abandoned and just invite yourself in like a welcomed guest. Perhaps you should think how you would feel if someone photographed your place and put it on the internet for the world to see.

I have had someone break into my house before, and I can honestly say that I am still uneasy about the event, even though it was several years ago.
I believe that the poster did not know that this area was still inhabited, and regardless, I hope that they did not disturb anything in your building.
