I can see both sides of the argument here. In one hand I've been in places where I've felt nervous because of the level of decay in the building, but I kept going. I've also been in a spot where I wish I hadn't had a group of people with me because we had to leave quickly. We were in the hudson valley state hospital and had to dodge a care taker driving around boarding up windows. I disliked the group there because I had to worry about them getting caught too. It is safer if you get hurt, but a group people really bogs you down sometimes.

Last week I went by myself, which was fun, but last night I went with 4 other guys, and it was so much better.

Those extra eyes looking around, pointing things out, just knowing that there's someone there for you. It's so much better.

I never go alone, but just because abandoned buildings possess a generally creepy atmosphere and I'm a sissy, not because I'm paranoid about getting hurt or whatever.

90% of the time it's just me and one other, but I got with two or three other people if it's an epic enough spot to bring a group.

I almost always have my boyfriend with me, which worked out nicely when we were checking out an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere on the weekend. We were confronted by what I would describe as an old farmer-type from a horror movie, complete with drool! I froze up and couldn't get myself to say anything so the boyfriend did all the talking and I just kind of hid behind him...I mean, it wasn't anything too dangerous, likely he was just confused, but I felt a lot better having someone with me. I couldn't deal with that on my own, because of the way I am

I have done a bit of exploring alone, but absolutely prefer to have someone with me and a cell phone (though at least two of the places I can't get enough reception to actually call if something did happen)

Sometimes the Solitude is nice, but on the other hand developing new and old realationships is good too.

I always go with at least one other person, its more fun, I'm less easily spooked and I have backup in case one of us gets hurt.

sometimes a girl just has to trespass...

I would recommend for any actual exploring bringing a friend, it'll be your luck when you fall and break a leg with no cell service, and if you don't have anyone in Indianapolis then try to turn one of your friends onto it!

I'd been doing it alone, off and on, for some years and just recently got a friend (re-)involved. I have to say it's definitely more fun with a friend and accomplice, probably safer too.

And if the night goes completely south, there's someone right there that you can point at and say, "Well he thought it was a good idea too!"

If I'm alone I'm more prone to poking around active sites/buildings, which is also a lot of fun. I just don't like going into abandoned buildings alone.

I'm a "Leave only footprints, take only pornography" kind of guy, myself.
