All depends I guess, but make sure if you go alone that you tell a friend or someone where you're going and possibly set up a time to give them a ring to make sure you're okay...If you tell them you'll text them at 3pm, and 8pm passes, it's safe to say they know you've been hobo-stabbed. Or something else along those lines. That pretty much sums up the way I feel. The social aspect is cool and its nice to have some one share the driving. I live hours from even the closest decent location. However, for a special place I prefer to go alone. That way I get the feeling of the place and can take my time on shots. As Karen said I always let somebody reliable know where I am and when I'm expected back. That way, if you see something cool or unusual and don't take a picture of it, you'll at least have another person there to see it as well. On the other hand, some people just enjoy the solitude of an abandoned place and in order to get the most from it they need to be alone. Although it limits you somewhat as to what spots you can visit. I prefer to go with experienced friends. It's safer, and it's always fun to have unique shared experiences with friends. If someone had been with me at least i would have some support, or someone to call an ambulance lol. The way we usually do things is in teams of two, keeps conversation pretty limited, no one wanders off and becomes lost, and imo its better too have two sets of eyes checkin for 50 rather than one.
