| | | In Maine, not much (That I'm aware of) But Boston area is only an hour away from Kittery... As a full member you're gf should be able to see all of DB entries. There are a LOT of hospitals in the Boston area.

| | | My only advice about Maine is to pay attention the the side of the road. LOTS of abandoned houses along the highways/main road. Only problem is, some may LOOK abandoned and aren't...And you don't want to turn around to find a shotgun in your face. This past summer I drove up to Bucksport and found all kinds of stuff off the road (it was a 5 hour drive and I found at least 3 abandoned houses). Nothing industrial or large, though. Definitely roll with the Boston area suggestion if you can. Or Worcester.
Scene kids need to get AIDS. LOTS of it. |

| | | thanks for Boston I don't know if we gonna have enough time too. We must return to Canada Sunday night That gonna be another trip. But I think it's not abandoned as Philly,PA. Thanks for the advise, for the "abandoned house style", and more that we are into the hunting season, I don't need bullets in my body. But my GF has checked in the DB and she told me about an old nursing home in kittery but we don't know if it a nice place.

| | | If you want to be really ballsy, hit portsmouth naval prison. Be ready to dodge security on an active naval base that builds and services nuclear subs though! Across the border in NH on the seacoast there's the old batteries in Ordiorne State Park in the Rye area. Most of the best stuff is gone or refurbished though. Fort Foster and Fort McClary are decent touristy type spots. The senior citizen's home in Kittery will leave a little to be desired but it is something to do if you're bored. There is no "THE" place to do really. An hour and a half away there's New Hampshire State Hospital in Concord but that's a dice roll as the buildings are partially/mostly active. I'm not sure what Maine has in the way of state hospitals. Check www.clocations.com >> Category >> Hospitals >> Maine and see if you can dig anything up. | | | looks like there might be an abandoned building or two by the river near Bangor State Hospital. That's a haul from where you're gonna be at though, if i recall correctly.

| | | and be careful around the bunkers in nh if you do those. last time i was there we found a bunch of tents set up in one of the rooms, so take it as you will but just something to keep in mind.

| | | Guessing from what I know. I'd say you're more likely to find baked hippies in those tents than homeless folks. Portsmouth has it's fair share of granola kids that couch surf/are homeless.

Boston's more like an hour and a half from Kittery. I live pretty much right over the Kittery border in NH, and they always say that Boston's an hour from my town, and it's not, so it's definitely not an hour from Kittery. At any rate, I agree with FM: your best bet are the bunkers on the NH seacoast. They're fairly boring, but if you're around and you feel like taking a little hike, go for it. It's a really pretty area, and you might be able to get some decent nature photos. Also, as far as what ME has for state hospitals: there's Bangor State Hospital (aka Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center) and Augusta State Hospital. They're both active, though.

I personally recommend Fort Dearborn; it's my personal favorite of the seacoast NH forts.

Google Maps gave that estimate. But It also depends on traffic, your speed, where you go. Seeing as I'm from CT I consider Billerica, Andover, Lowell, Woburn, Haverhill, Methuen; all part of the General Boston Area.

| | | Portsmouth Naval is THE place to see in Kittery. Its not actually that hard, just walk on the base and tell them that you are UER-ing, thats how I did it.
