keeping in shape for UE

I know that we aren't always in the best shape, but after a long UE soreness can follow. so the question I want to pose for everyone is how do you get in shape/practice for your UE? Personally I practice with a culvert by where I live. to keep limber and check gear before longer missions and such. so how about you?

I stretch daily. I also swim and jog regularly.

I make love the same way I resolve arguments. With my fists.

What type of exploration are you doing exactly that requires working out? I mean, it's just walking around and maybe some climbing (hopefully no running!).

Some of the exploration I do requires swimming, and some contortions, and sometimes you can have long climbs. Not in the best of shape, but it helps to somewhat keep in shape.

just a topic that I dont think has been talked about on here and it helps keep you from that icky sore feeling you get when your horribly out of shape. and being a drainer being in shape kinda happens but still get a good workout

Max12 . . . . . come on!

I don't think physical fitness is optional, I KNOW it's essential. Urban Exploring inherently involves being in places where one doesn't belong, hence the strong need for physical fitness. I have personally been chased by figures of authority on more than a handful of instances, and in each one of these instances, was able to out run or evade capture. I've found myself in train tunnels with a train, and quick feet are never a bad thing to have. I've found myself on the side of cliffs, with rocks crumbling underfoot, and relied on my coordination and strength to stay safe in an inherently unsafe situation.

I feel its sort of like everyone having all of their equipment to be 'prepared'. I stay 'prepared' by being physically fit.

I eat bacon and sit in my chair, but I'm not a beanbag like you would think. I'd actually die if I lost any more weight

Drains? Just bring some water and make sure you can handle the walk back, as for the rest of exploration, I'd say don't get yourself into situations if you're unable to get yourself out of them unharmed and free of any law enforcement.

I guess you're right. I've never been chased by authority figures, but I have been in tunnels with trains, and quick feet certainly help. Just Sunday I explored a location which required quite some upper body strength to get to some parts. Plus, fence climbing skills are absolutely essential.

So yeah, I retract my previous statement.

If you're an active person, I don't think you'll ever actually need to train specifically for exploration.

drink lots of beer and eat lots of pizza and hot dogs. then when i explore i drink liquor because a bottle weighs less than a case of beer.

i don't run unless someone is chasing me and i don't lift weights cuz they're really heavy.

leave the gun. take the cannoli.

while climbing stuff I noticed I had trouble pulling myself up a touch..

SO while at the gym I now make sure I use the weights for real life situations as well as body toning stuff

I can now pull myself up a lot better and my climbing skills have improved a lot
I dont need my feet as much to lift myself up.. I can do it with just my arms for the most part..

that and the treadmill

I will defeat that which was once untouchable only so that I may now move on
