It's Called Ashecliffe, it's based on the book Shutter Island in which the hospital is called Ashecliffe.

My understanding is that "Ashecliffe" is only its working title, but it will more likely than not be released as "Shutter Island." My girlfriend's brother is an extra in it and wont shut up about it.

I live in the next town over from Medfield. Don't know anything about the film other than what I could find at iMDB:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1130884/

Back in 1993 or 94 I used to do deliveries to all the state hospitals here in New England and I once went to Medfield State.

I ended up going to the power generating station to ask directions. The PGS was like a travel back in time. All the equipment was very very old. I mean, "Thomas Edison era" stuff...

You guys will laugh, but I actually worked on the Taunton shoot...in what capacity I'll refrain from mentioning but you'd laugh harder if I told you.

I was in the Medfield area and decided to stop by and see what the status of this is and they are still shooting. There is a lot of security, but its kind of a joke. They have a security guard trailer at the main road entrance, and you can see all the movie trailers and shit right beyond it. In the back, if you go through the woods, they even have security at posts hidden between buildings and the woods, watching to make sure people dont enter the grounds from other directions (the guard was easy to pass, however, as he was to busy reading his paper to notice us), and police ride around the grounds in trucks. It was exciting to infiltrate, but it wasnt worth it. The buildings are mostly empty, and knowing that the hospital is now a set for a major Hollywood picture instead of a piece of history takes away a lot of the fun. I felt more like a paparazzi than anything else.

I went back again this weekend and thought I'd update those interested. I talked to some people that lived in the neighborhood and they were happy to share some info. Apparently they were supposed to be done filming by now but now its slated for sometime in July. Paramount has leased all of the property from the state for an entire year, so they essentially own it, even when they pack up and go back to LA. They have actual state police on site, and are more serious about security than they may appear; a young girl was playing in the field near the water tower and was barked at by the police. While inside I noticed two vehicle patrolling at any given time.

Yeah it was weird, they had a bunch of old cars. I saw two of these...

They are American cars though, and the movie being filmed takes place in the US, so definitely not Nazi vehicles...

As for security, I saw three different vehicles patrolling in my 2 hours there

Probably not... I would bet that if anything there will be even less. A few of the buildings were swept and cleaned of asbestos and it was obvious they had been used to film in.

State Police were always on site. There is a substation located in one of the old houses on the grounds.

good to know. I haven't seen anyone come out of the building with the cop cars behind it...or seen any sign of life there...over the past three years.

what have you seen over there as far as cop business out of that building?

this thread is foolish, as its begun to discuss things that involve our well being.

Its dually foolish to forget that cops(taunton cops especially) dont watch this board. Keep the details to pm.

I really think our well-being is a-ok bud. My curiosity of knowing how the state police are utilizing a building isn't going to kill anyone's mojo at Medford. Lets remember its just Medford...where when a movie is not in session you are welcome to roam free...as free as the wind blows.

Live-Bait is right. These aren't like Taunton cops... they're paid by Paramount, and they are securing the grounds like they would a studio. They dont care about the buildings, they care about the integrity of their movie shoot. They aren't worried about people who want to explore the hospital, they are worried about paparazzi and such.
