Especially because your blacks don't appear all that black, the borders stand out like nothing else. What kind of b/w conversion are you doing? If you're just desaturating I suggest you use the channel mixer to get better control of the tones. Composition wise your stuff is spot on though, some of the photos are slightly tilted however, but thats just nitpicking.
