| | | I didn't want to hijack the other thread, so I figured I'd just make my own. I was recently searching for a cave that supposedly lies under an old cemetery near where I go to school, I never did find the cave, but I did happen to notice a fairly decrepit looking farmhouse off the side of the road. The entire farm consists of a decent sized two story house, a small barn, a large barn with loft, and a few outbuildings. I don't know much about the place, but there are a lot of official looking papers sitting around that may provide some clues next time I go. The farmhouse itself as it appears from the street.
Both of the front doors are wedged shut, either from the branches in front of them, or the house shifting as it decays so I use the side entrance which leads to the kitchen.
A bedroom. The way the curtains diffuse the light and just the general lay of the room make for some good shots. Or at least they should if I can ever remember to bring my tripod.
Going upstairs..
The girdle nailed to the wall halfway up the stairs was too odd to not include.
The second floor doesn't seem to be in very good shape. Like the first story all the floors are collapsing, unlike the first story, those collapsed floors actually go somewhere now. The roof isn't doing so well either.
There are only two rooms on the second floor, and getting to the second one is a little tricky and involves stepping from rotting ceiling joists to the doorframe, which seems to be the sturdiest part of the floor.
I need to sort through the rest of the pictures from that place so I don't have any of the barn or outbuildings uploaded yet. I'll probably be taking some more today as well so more pictures are incoming. Also, sorry if the images are too big. Tell me and I'll shrink them down a bit, I use a stupidly high resolution so I tend to make images a little too big sometimes.

I have a few more farms, but none of them have houses this intact. I do have pictures of a few interesting barns though. And then there's this place. There are all kinds of strange things out there.

Actually, most people let their girdles hang from the rafters.

| | | Sweet. I feel a more personal connection with houses rather than industrial buildings, but industrial buildings are awesome, still.

God bless both of ya! I drive from D.C. to Norfolk VA pretty often, and have started to take pics of the houses along the route ( almost 200 Miles). I have shot 4, and have about 30 left. rural houses are by far becoming my favorite. there is something really interesting about finding relics from when someone lived there. whether is a request for a birth certificate, medicine bottle, or a family photo, I never get tired of seeing it. there is something kinda sad about a family who leaves their possessions and their past becomes forgotten.

I agree,100%. To me,that's what makes them infinitely more interesting than most other places.

As far as I can tell, there isn't one. I looked around for a door both times I was out there. A lot of the floors are collapsed on the lower level too and I didn't see anything under them, so I doubt there is one.
However, there is an attic which contains what looks like one of those old timey baby carriages. It's good for both pictures and speculation.
And now a few more pictures I didn't have uploaded when I made the original post.
A daytime shot of the bedroom:
And the obligatory chairporn. Houses are really cool places to explore, but I think caves are my favorite. I actually finally found the cave I was looking for when I first ran across this house. It's a pretty cool place, a few big chambers, a few smallish crawl passages, and an intermittent waterway running the length of it. It's also the first one I've needed a rope to enter.

| | | Dude, those photos are awesome. It's kind of creepy to see those robes and clothes hanging. It's like someone just got up and left a few decades ago, it's kind of like a time capsule partially lost to weathering.
