| | | That smokestack isn't going anywhere anytime soon. There is a simulcast trunking site for Toronto Police up there, which is badly needed to provide comms up the Don Valley Parkway. If that stack were to go away, TPS/EMS/TFS wouldn't have communications on the Don Valley south of about Spanbridge. They'll have to move all that over first. If that happens, I'll be sure to let y'all know, because the only reason they'd relocate that gear is if they're going to demolish the stack.

| | | Most don't. Even the few who climbed the stack a few years back said they didn't see any equipment. But I can assure you, it's there. I know a fellow who installed it, and I know a guy who maintains it. Plus, take a look at the stack, on the north side...just below the white section. Them be antennas son.

Only one way to find out. Wonder how long that climb took!

| | | Nor will you. The TAFL doesn't list Public Safety licenses.

Negative, captain. The only thing listed for the City of Toronto is the Toronto Municipal System (IE, Hydro, Works, Water, Forestry, etc...) but nothing public safety. The only exception are the 800MHz (and UHF/VHF) conventional repeaters that are repeated in the subway. When they were licensed, they made the mistake of licensing them under the TTC instead of Toronto Police, so they aren't protected.

Yeah...I think thats what I found. Now, is that thing linked via landline or microwave? Because I don't think it would be a bright idea to have it wired via landline there...

| | | The upper antenna is for RX, the lower antenna is for TX. There is an RF link between the Slave Site and the Master Site (at First Canadian Place).

| | | That's nothing.
That isn't the pic I was looking for - there was one in the Toronto Sun awhile back of some workers who were working on the antenna on the very tip of the CN Tower, without anything more than a piece of rope the size of your thumb supporting them from certain death. THAT must be some sweet danger pay!!
