| | | The Ark was the Animal Reptile Kingdom. It was a gator farm. Legend has it that there were plaster disks inside with pictures of the animals on them. The Whale was a waterpark. Those are slides in his sides and there was a diving board on the tail. Both closed in the late 80s? The whale was also recently restored. Its now a nice spot for a picnic.

| | | Very well read. The water park was called Nature's Acres. It was built in the 70's as an anniversary present. The underneath of the Ark was once used for birthday parties and such, as told to me by the owner. The only speculation I had was not to enter the ark. I didn't see much access anyway. Very unstable nowadays. Interesting stop, however.

| | | Catoosa the whale rocks! We drove by him last year on our route 66 trip back to D.C. Not that anyone cares about route 66, but the book Route 66 Lost and Found is awesome. You get to see how the abandoned buildings you see today looked 40 or 50 years ago. [last edit 10/26/2007 2:42 AM by don cornelius - edited 1 times]

| | | I'll have to check out the book. No flashing...I'll have to try again. And I'm glad I'm not the worst around...hopefully I'll improve as I go! I've never been much of a photographer...more of just an explorer. I hope my skills will come with experience. The car is definitely an attention grabber. I'll have to get more shots. It was being patrolled at the time...
