My knife designs, what do you think?

I would have put this in off topic but for some reason despite my having been here three years it is locked. Anyway I'm not trying to sell them here I just thought it would be fun to share.

These are three designs of my very own that are finally finished, the sheaths aren't done just yet but they will be soon, Kydex of course. I just thought I would post them here and see what everyone thinks. I am still waiting to hear from one of my contractors but if all goes well they will be available for sale soon.

The big one is a 6" blade and the smaller is a 4", the dagger is 2.5" All three are waterjet cut from CPM S30V treated to 59-60 and are 3/16" thick with a blasted and non reflective finish, the handle scales are made from black Linen Micarta. When my guy is ready for continuous production the large blade will be $350, the smaller one is $250 and the dagger will be $175. Anyway here are all three in my Pelican ...

Here is the dagger

The big one...

The smaller one

Some extra of the dagger...

Huge Seinfeld fan.

I use quotes from it all the time and no one knows what I am talking about.

I like very much.

If I had more money, I would like to collect knives like these.

Mind me asking, why aren't the screws symmetrically on the dagger? Or is it just the picture or me?

I think this should be in other, and that if you can't post there you should suffer in silence.

Hmmm, move it to other... then the creator of the thread can't read it...

...it's not really UE related... unless your exploring in Detroit or Glasgow, Scotland.

But then the topic is kinda interesting and at least 100000 times better than the other useless bullshit in other...

I'm torn here. So I'm going to do nothing, except to ask if you do this for a living or something Olaf?

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.

If it's acceptable for anyone who's a basic member to post off-topic threads in Main, just because they may or may not be interesting, then you're going to have a serious problem down the road.

I would submit that there are artisanal knife-making communities elsewhere on the internet. Olaf should feel free to seek out those forums if he'd like to show off his impressive creations. They do look quite well-crafted, but they have no place here.

Alternately, if anyone has met Olaf and feels confident in vouching for him, then the mods can make him a full member and this can get put it in the right forum. But absent of that, the site's rules (which I assume exist for a reason) should be upheld, even if it means deleting someone's impressively sharp, pretty things.

Yes Chris I am a professional knifemaker. Well it makes NO sense to me that other is closed in the first place. No I don't meet people off of here, I live in NC and most everyone else lives on the other side of the country or in Canada. I have these posted on nearly a dozen custom knife forums but that isn't the point. I'm part of the community here and I wanted to share them. If I were trying to sell them here then I could understand it being a problem, alas I'm not.

Olaf, a quick check of the very useful user search feature indicates that there are plenty of people here from North Carolina.

Alright so I haven't used the search in a while, the point is I haven't met anyone from here. I don't post meaningless crap and I don't cause problems so denying my requests to be a member is lame. Regardless, if it should me moved then it will be, there was no better place for it when I was posting.

There was no better place for it when I was posting.

This is perhaps where you exercise self-control and just don't post it then.

Most tool and gadget threads are in or get moved to, the tutorials board where countless flashlight, grappling hook and smoke bomb threads circulate and wont offend kowalski.

Now to answer your question, Im not a tanto fan. I think the guard is the only thing that will stop the knife from slipping in your hand because the scales are really straight and look like the micarta is real smooth with no texture or palm swell to get a good grip on.

As show blades theyre pretty nice, but I will stick with my scratched up old Randall.
