Hell yes, see that hand-laced cabling? It was amazing in person all the risers coming out to the relay terminals. I cropped out a lot of that to compose that image but I've got it still... We stood marveling at it for a good ten minutes. There was also a happy big red button on the other side - I had to press it! =)

| | | Here's some of mine from the other night. I haven't had much time for a road trip into Calgary for some better locations, but I still enjoy this place:
Probably the coolest grain elevator around...
Aeronautical charts say this place is 230ft tall.
It was quite tall indeed.
yup
These grain bins were extremely huge.
Here's some others from other random adventures. Sorry about sizes, not sure how big they may end up.

| | | I don't think this goes in photography, cause they're bad photos, and I don't think anyone in NW would care, so I'll put it here. Yesterday, after work, I decided to take a walk up to these extremely nice (and expensive) condominiums that are being built up on a hill overlooking the water. I wasn't planning on going inside, just walking by, but I guess I should've known even that was a bad idea considering their high-profile nature. Anyway, I went up there and walked into the construction zone, where I actually didn't see any no trespassing signs or anything like that, which was nice. The building was only about 1/3 done, so just the outer skeleton. Here are a couple pictures I got:
I didn't really want to go inside, as I realized that would make it exponentially harder to explain why I was there than just walking around the perimeter, and I'm really glad I didn't. Security actually rolled up while I was leaving, but luckily I got off the site before he apparently saw me. Probably saw my flashlight or something and came up to check it out. So, I won't be going up there again, although it looked like a nice little place to wander around in, with a parking garage and a really nice view. Maybe I'll try and get someone from the company to let me see it during the day. Here are some other random pictures I took on the way back.

| | | My boyfriend, some buddies of ours and myself recently got into UE. The first place we went was the Carondelet Coke Plant in STL. We've also been to St. Mary's and Armour Meat, but the St Mary's pics are w/ the boyfriend and we didn't take any of Armour Meat. These are the Coke plant.

| | | I'll start off with the disclaimer. The pictures are so-so, as this was one of my earliest UE's. At that time, I just carried along a35mm point & shoot. Back in 1991 or 1992 I found out my old elementary school was to be demolished so a new more modern school could be built in it's place. Well, I managed to get there a few weeks before the demolition to take some pics & check the place out one last time. The pictures of the school actually being torn down were taken by my Mom. It so happens she lived about 4 blocks away and when the day came she went up there with camera in hand. One side note: The cupula in one of the pictures was kept, restored & put inside the new school. I loaned the negatives to these pics to the new principal. He had prints made & placed them around it. Pretty cool.
Stop pulling on my ears dammit, I know what I'm doing! |

| | | hey zippy, You might want to head back there and it seems you missed the best part IMO of that site, the crane. The railroad tracks in the back aren't actually the end of the site as you may have thought, if you wander down the path there is more back there, but aside from the crane it is most just the footprints of buildings that were.

It takes a little more than that. And asking doesn't help I'm sure.

I guess I should have added more to that. Asking when you only have 2 posts and no history of exploring with anyone under your belt. They like to be able to trust you, before they upgrade you to full member status. Being recommended helps also, instead of just asking.
Hope that makes a little more sense.
