For a frankenstein how about the Taddousac? I see that boat everywhere we go; the Soo, Welland, and it makes frequent trips here to Bay City.

Got to go see what Algo boat came in today . . . . . .

Not a big fan of the barge/tug conversions either but we get them here.

she really has only got those 2 odd bulges, other than that she looks pretty normal. the paul martin is a seaway max ship, takes somtimes up to an hour to lock through

well id hate to inform you, but it was a saltie. so was the middletown (american victory, the Lee Tregurtha, Paul Townsend, Inglehart. They were all tankers built in WW2, and converted to bulk carriers durning the korean war. since all the yards were full with orders, these where cheeper.

there actually not frankenstein jobs. the companies that converted them were the ones that actually cared about the boats. like cleveland cliffs, columbia. when the converted the middletown to an unloader they actually built it special to the boats lower profile.

i know i just meant conversions i always find a boat that has been re built more interesting than un modified.

My grandfather sailed on the Maunaloa II and Consumers Power for Boland & Cornelius during the 40s I believe. My dad is still digging for some of the paperwork.

I can always run to Saginaw and see the EM Ford parked. It hasn't moved in several years but is still in great shape looks-wise.

Some of my favs:

Stewart Cort
Roger Blough
Arthur Anderson
Algoway (here last night!)
Buckeye (now the tug/barge Okive Moore/Kuber)
Mckee Sons before its conversion too.

I just missed the Voyager Independent last Summer down in Port Huron at Vantage Point. That has to be one of the last freighters operating built here in Bay City.

Another ship built here was the Daniel J. Morrell.

ahh ok, so he worked during the good years. you could sit at rock cut and see atleast 20 or so boats, and thats just downbound.

i doubt the ford will sail again. its too small and they recently got barges. they keep her looking good, along with all of the other cement boats.

i also like the anderson (along with the rest of the AAA's)
and the blough. buckeye was nice till they cut off its ass and made it a barge.

the independent is a nice boat. along with the rest of the AA class. good to see that its not in Kinsman hands anymore

speaking of the independant. its been parked since this morning right near here. They have been having trouble with the cpr bridge to the south shore of montreal i think. Gave me a chance to take in this great looking boat in all her glory, looking better than she did last year when i saw her after hitting a bridge

yeah kent and i had a little email discussion i was sur it was the bridge because its unusual to see people at the top where the pulleys are during a snow storm. My first gut feeling about the bridge was right. All i can say shes a gorgeous boat

Hey nostra,
Have you ever seen anything of the Fayette Brown out by Anticosti Island? I wondered if there was anything left to it.
