Aw, good for you Kooda for helping out these guys. If I didn't already have four cats of my own I'd take one.
Unfortunately, we have a huge stray problem around here, and I had two mama cats show up at my house yesterday, both fat as can be and probably days away from having their babies. So my house will likely be overrun with kitties soon.
Good luck finding them homes.

Another sucker!
We have 7 indoors counting the new one but like you, it's impossible for me to ignore them when I see 'em.
HSUS has a low cost spay/neuter clinic and here, they do two feral cats per day free.

I'm a blatant waste of time and resources.

do you mind if i replace the cats in your story wtih dogs? because in that case, YAY!! for you! im sorry, i despise cats with a passion.

Not at all!
I love 'em all but know that some people don't like one or the other and that's just fine. I'll call you if I run into a puppy problem.

Ahhh, finally a man who has a heart for the cats! I wish I could have more than the two I have, but I live in an efficiency the size of my left foot. I'd love to help out with the Kittie Liberation Front as well, but I'm 500 miles away! Good luck, man.

I guess we're all suckers for our pets. I like cats and dogs. In fact, we have 3 cats, a black lab, a hamster, 2 lizards, and a ball python. Home sweet home. We just fed the ball a few minutes ago. I keep threatening to feed Mr. Hampy (the hamster) to the snake. That little shit runs all night long. But oh well, I guess we'll keep em all.

There is a place here in my town that takes in abandoned pets that people have picked up and finds homes for them. They don't put them to sleep. I don't know, but surely there's a place out your way that would help if no one can take any of them.

I wish we had HSUS around here. All we have is Animal Control and an organization called PetSavers. We don't have any no-kill shelters that I'm aware of. PetSavers networks with a few vets that will spay a stray for $60 (cheap for this area), but as far as finding homes, you either keep the cat until someone wants it, or it has a week at the animal shelter. =/
Our problem began when some people across the street started getting more and more cats but never bothered to spay or neuter any of them, so they just multiplied. Then, when the family moved, they left all the cats behind! I had one outdoor cat at the time, so they all migrated over to my house where the food was. Despite feeding Tom inside, they never went away. At one point I could count about 17 different cats that would stroll through my yard on a daily basis. My dad and I have been working on rehoming them and getting them all fixed for over two years now. We're down to about five strays that hang around (and escape traps quicker than Houdini, making it difficult to get them to the vet before more babies appear). It never fails, though, that when I think we're at a manageable number, a new mama cat will show up at my house, well into her pregnancy. We always seem to be rehoming kittens and trying to catch mama cats to at least get them spayed, even if we can't find them homes.
All that because one small group of people weren't responsible pet owners. I don't know what my poor dad is going to do when I leave him here and move to New Orleans.

I'd love to help, but I already have two inside cats and a dog in the backyard. They're about all we can handle.

Aw, Barry, you just made my day.

There's stray dogs at my prison, so every time I go I bring some dog food for them. I would take them in, but I have five rescues already.

Good on ya!

Thanks!
Laura took a pic on her phone last night of Baby UE (pronounced "you'-ee") settling in on my lap. He's fitting in pretty well with the rest of the herd but hasn't really warmed up to the dogs yet. They all love cats and wanna put their big heads in his face all the time.

Here's a phone photo of what it looks like when Pinto comes in for a closeup.

Hopefully I have some time for the rest of the cats there. They're moving to the active complex next door but unfortunately they're supposedly slated for demolition as well.

That's what I thought. When we do find them alive, they're usually totally feral and untouchable. I already named him so he's family now.
Is 7 housecats excessive?
Heh!

Aww, I wish I could take a few off your hand! I have six already, and hubby says that's enough. I refer to myself as the neighborhood crazy cat lady.

Saint Kooda... I'm impressed man.

You did good for the kitties though man. Cause like someone else said, they'd have likely been crushed or starved. Kudo's to the Kooda.

I second that.

Black cat, Lucifer Sam/Pink Floyd.
A very cool cat rescued by an even cooler one.
Your an A-OK dude.

It's kickass song.

Black cat's are my favorite; a GF had one named Bubba, a big 23 pound Tomcat that was all muscle. Bubba was declawed, but he loved to fight. He would hold the other cat's head with his front paw by strength alone and would then mauled it.
He never lost a fight as far as anyone could tell, and was the nicest cat with people. Never bite (people).

Black cats, fun times

It was pretty cool when he jump of the bed; he make a solid thunk sound as he landed on his feet on the hard wood floor. Always wanted a cat like that!

I'm surprised that that mother was befriended so easily; they should make great pets. When you rescue an animal like that many times it imprints on them in a way like no other; they recognize you as more than their provider. My coolest pets came for troubled beginnings.

Try approach kids groups, local businesses such McD's and such. Itemized how much the shots, and vet bills will run, and try to get sponsors, and then homes. Give the story to the local TV station or news paper.

I would keep at least two, they should be great mousers, and maybe other nasties as well.

Mine almost never do. They imprint on my wife who does most of the feeding and pan duty.
I found Miny ( a Russian Blue) in a Minyards parking lot and brought her home: She runs when I walk in the room.
I found Purdy ( a White true Persian in a ditch and it took two days to coax him to me: He only watches my feet like I'm going to step on him.
I found Bootsy (Tabby and White DSH now 17) after she was thrown from a car near our lake house: She loves me and all men.
I found Lilly, a non-deaf Blue Eyed solid white DLH wandering our neighborhood: She tolerates me and likes me OK sometimes.
I found Yao Ling (a Black and White DSH in a vacant house next door to my wife's office: She'll let me pet her only on the stairs.
I found Stormy sitting in the median in the pouring rain and had to carry him on my shoulders on my bicycle home: He loves everybody and must race me down the stairs every time. He also always wins.
I found Baby Huey in the apartment complex: Turns out he's completely fearless and loves everybody.

I guess I'm faring OK in the "Cats that like me..." department.

I just found out that all the other nearby apartments are gonna be demo-ed too so the problem of unwanted cats may be even greater that I first thought. Since I've been out of the Humane Society/ Animal rescue biz for quite a while, my connections are pretty limited but with the additional complexes coming down, I think I'll follow your advice and contact the media and animal welfare concerns. I definitely can't handle any more foster children.
