Very sad news indeed, especially with him being a local and all, too.
As a family man myself with wife and kids, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.
Chris was an excellent photographer and I enjoyed the work he shared with us all over on MHinc. I also appreciated all the generous feedback and comments he passed me on my images over the past year.
Although I never had the opportunity to meet him IRL - his online presence will definitely be missed in the community.
You can always tell when you're watching Canadian television - the actors in the show are the same ones doing the commercials. |

In a community as big as ours, death is bound to happen. 15000 members is an awful lot of people, the size of an average small townships. in a town of 15000 you will usually have about 1 ("natural" - non-homicide) death every few days to weeks, depending on average age and other stats. however those losses are usually quikly replaced by new members to the community.
if you do a user search on some of our older members, you will find some of them just dissapeared a long time ago. i wonder how many of those silent members have passed away, and no one relayed the news to us. Many people in this community keep very quiet about their UE Hobby and do not like to tell friends or event family members what it is they are interested in.
heck i know if i passed away, and i didnt directly know anyone on the board in person, my father wouldnt know to come on here and tell you all the news. luckily all my friends and family are on UER so I don't have to worry about that, but I do know alot of people are out there who we will never hear about if they pass away.
I care alot about this community. I really do!

Back when I was a yahoo chat whore, I had a group or club of friends. one day one of our friends passed away (in the 9/11 attacks - he was a firefighter). after that day we decided to share contact information incase of an emergency... it worked! someone overdosed on meds while in chat one day we called her, she couldnt pick up the phone, but we could hear her phone ringing on the voice chat. we found the local emergency number for her area and the ambulance arrived just in time. morale of the story is .. everyone be sure you have a friend on here... If anyone does pass away, I want to remember them, and know about it.
Maybe we should include some optional emergency contact information in everyones profile which only mods can see if there is an emergency? I don't know just an idea.. but it does make you think!

Strangely enough my birthday was last weekend. so it kind of freaked me out a bit. I explored the Akron caves on the weekend, after having a very bad series of dreams of death and rocks falling on me, which directly referenced the akron caves in the dream. none the less I still went to explore them, being extra cautious of the large cracks in the slabs of rock in the ceiling. I am not too sure what my point is here it is almost 5 am and i am tired and rampleing, i'll shut up now 
again, RIP you will be missed.

I saw a spot on the news about Chris' funeral.His wife (as well as others) looked devastated,my heart goes out to them.

If it's kept under lock and key type of deal. Mods would be able to access it, but they have to log when, why, etc. and then give a follow-up report on the incident. I agree that the idea would be useful, but there is always room for abuse. I'm not saying I have a reason to distrust a mod, but for some of them, I do not have a reason to trust them as I haven't even spoken/written to some of them.

This has been a dark week. A really sweet lady at my work died yesterday as well. Death seems a little closer than comfortable right now. I hope everyone takes a moment to experience the warmth even when its subzero.
