| | | I would be interested in going if such a trip were to be organised. I'm in Europe, so it shouldn't cost as much, any other Europeans interested? Going into a post-nuclear wasteland with someone I met on the Internet is obviously much safer than going alone.

Nevertheless, I would still wear Lead underwear.

| | | my plans to go are for mid august. i'm trying to arrive in amsterdam from memphis on the 16th and kiev on the 17th. i'll probably spend five or six days in kiev so anyone willing to meet me along the way (amsterdam or in kiev) is more than welcome. Tupsumato was interested at one point but i don't know if he will be able to make it down from finland. i think the only other date i've heard is july from panic. i may be able to move my date to early august if it would help in getting a group together.

That might fit my timing very well I plan to get to Europe after OPEX and will spend some time in Paris then drive to Chernobyl, rather slowly though. There's so much to see along the way.

| | | well cool, i may be at opex this year, so maybe we can figure out an itenerary. this is going to sound pretty crazy, but one of my best friends has a couple russian friends that live in sanfran right now. they are planning on going to kiev sometime this summer and my friend is going to put me in touch with them about getting in touch with the proper officials who can get the permission. sounds promising. eh? lol. i'll let you know how this develops.

| | | Posted by natxtron and yeah, Kiscelitsa Rimma passed away last year. she used to do most of the guided tours until she became ill.
|
man, i'm really sorry to hear that... she was really nice. got really worried when i stood near the edges of rooftops to take pics, and asked my girlfriend if i was going to hurt myself, but she tried hard to let people take the pics they wanted. Hope her illness was not related to working so much in the exclusion zone.
good luck with teh trip, definitely a cool place to visit.

Wow, Rimma died? That's so sad. I saw her on video of Chernobyl done just last year near Anzac Day (25th April) with Richard Carleton of 60 Minutes Australia. I have the video on cd somewhere. She looked pretty young and healthy. That's just so sad. I would have liked to have met her. Hey Maze, Undercity, anyone who's made the trip, do you have the contact details for the companies you arranged them through?
