i was wondering if anyone has managed to get into the lakeshore coal powerplant that was recently shut down. it is absolutely huge, and looks like alot of fun. it has security at the main gate, but that's all i've seen so far. when i mean huge, this place is absolutely massive. the smoke stack has recently been demolished, but the building is still there i think. anyways let me know if you know anything about getting in.

Lakeview, I assume you're talking about.

And yes, a number of people have been in. Most notably, Micro, who I think was in the day it closed.

It's clearly Lakeview, at first I thought maybe Hearn (because of the single stack). But with a google search confirming no news story about it, I assume he's not referring to it.

The photo was last winter. The stuff on the page was 2005. It doesn't look like that any longer.

As you correctly noted, the stacks are gone. Interior demo has began, but the exterior is pretty much intact otherwise.

You probably should start out with some easier sites first, rather than going for a location with onsite, very active security...

There's tons of great places to go around Toronto.

yeah i'm going to check it out from a far first. it's just a 5 minute drive from my house, and there's many places to scope out. i'll see if it's loaded with security or not, then make my decision to go in.

Nerdo wasn't exaggerating. There is on site security. The place is not abandoned like Hearn was back 2 years ago. It is still very active, when I visited earlier in the summer asbestos abatement was going on.

Best to do as you said, case the joint out and see if you can spot any good place to evade the security's range of sight. Once you are able to get very near the main structure, you shouldn't have too hard a job to get in.

Don't expect to see what was in Kowalski's photo. That room and much of the plant's offices have been completely cleared out.

Good luck and stay safe.

i think i may be able to evade around the coal pile if it's still there. i've just been fascinated with the place, ever since i was a little child. there's a water park right next to it, and my parents would take me with one of my little friends, but i never actually played in the water park. most of the time i'd just sit there looking at it. being so small seeing such a large building was amazing. it's a shame they're taking it down. there's also the remenants of another building right by the site. it's just east in the park. does anyone have any clue what that was?
