Oh come on man that didn't make any sense! Stealth is always a good thing, because the idea of stealth is not being seen.

Yes but if you are you're screwed because they know that you were doing something that you "shouldn't have". That was the point there. And cops will check things out if it catches their eye. You can be as stealthy as you want going into a place, but you might come back to not having a car.

Okay, being the one who normally does the driving considering I'm normally the one with the general idea of where we need to be for a place I've got a few things I go by.

1. Public parking lots. There they're for a reason, use 'em.

Many times (sadly) it isen't that easy (we all wish it was). There's a lot of diffrent things depending on what might be near by. My car isen't exactly "Attention Grabbing" but it's not exactly "Normal". So, you can always do the staged 'breakdown' with something white up in the window. Personally, I'm not leaving my car on the side of the road.

I found normally I'll end up finding a place that my car would fit into to park at. Neighborhoods, gas stations, ect.. that aren't a very long walk away. In the times nothing can be found, hell, I found a nice little wooded place and end up pulling my car right in. Then again it's easy cause my Mina (my car) is black.

Diffrent places have diffrent kind of rules. You know "If it's this.. then do this or this" ya get what I mean, it varies for places. Otherwise I reccommend common sence, if you don't think your car is safe or in a good spot. Then it most likly ISENT!

Yes, I'm a bitch but we all knew that.

The point of stealth is not always not being seen, but not being noticed
looking like you belong there is often more effective than nearly making

That didn't make any sense either. The point of stealth is not being seen, if you are not seen you are not noticed, and if you are not noticed you are not seen. So don't contradict yourself and me at the same time, it makes you look stupid.

And really, who would pull over a camoflaged car? "excuse me sir, would you mind telling me why your car is camoflauged?" "Uh, yes I would officer" "and why is that?" "Well because it's not of your business actually" "OK well so long as you don't get up to anything" "Yes officer".

LOL, you assume that unnoticed means you are unseen, it does not.
Walk down a street, how many people do you see ?
a dozen, two dozen ?.. what did they look like ?
you can see people without noticing them, just like you noticed only the
person who stood out.

Oh for gods sake children, can we put our handbags and toy cars down for a second and stop squabbling? I don't give a shit what Stealth means to you, what it means to me is not being seen when you don't want to be seen, and if that means painting your car green so that when you park it, it can't be seen, then that's stealth.

I don't care what you think about it, the above is my opinion, and there is no contesting it. Discussion over.

I think not being cared about it better then not being seen.
Make it so any one can see your car. BUT mack it so no one will care to see it.
Know some one with a crapy beater car? Use that.
No one cares about cars like that.

Stealth is nice and all but if some one does find your car they know you are up to some thing.
And Stealth can lead to you not being able to find your car and then you are in real deep crap.

I've always wondered about this too.

Say, for example, I was driving around some rarely used backroads and happened to come across something to check out.

Would it be risky to park on the shoulder? I usually park at the nearest gas station, restaurant or whatever and then walk from there.

I dunno... just paranoia of someone either hitting it accidentally or towing it or something. Is there any law against parking cars on the side of the road?

Stealth comes in many forms. To limit it to not being seen at all is cutting yourself off from a great alternative. Blending into a crowd is just as useful as using some alien cloaking device. In any case, I digress...

As for a car, look around you. A great car to use would be a grey Chrysler K car. Tons of them on the street, easy to soup up if you really want, spare parts are plentiful, and nobody bats an eye if they see one parked on the side of the road.

Many people mistake stealth for blending in. Stealth IS disguising yourself, walking quietly, and wearing dark clothes so that nobody see's you. Blending in with a crowd is not part of that, and therefore cannot be named stealth, but I don't disagree that it is a useful technique.

The idea of stealth is to prevent you being detected, and appearing in a crowd will mean that possibly hundreds of people will detect you. If you want stealth then you want nobody to detect you, even if they aren't looking for you.

The heads up display on some of the Cadillac models incorporates a limited form of night vision, they might be a useful car to do missions in. ;)

He's talking about when your seen being stealthy, or the lack of the need to run away from security into the woods instead of saying "how ya doin?" and being on your way

Take a bicycle. It is how I get around the city and how I see everything that peaks my interest. When driving, someone can be too focused on the task of driving to notice that small hole over there... If you are going someplace remote, take the bike on your car and bike the last mile in. What's wrong with taking a bike ride along a dirt road in the middle of nowhere? Bikes are very easy to conceal. Stuff them into a bush, lock them up against a fence, whatever. I don't think the authorities will have too much of a problem with a bike locked to a fence post somewhere in the city and they would have to be looking real hard to find a bike stashed in a large bush!

a couple points

1, Dont take a car that you care about take the worst Junker in your Group.your lest likely to be noteiced the more pathetic your vhecal looks think 1985 K Car We used to use a Blue 1978 ford Faramont Waggon.infact the more boxy and ugly the car is the better

2 In plane site try a parking lot if your on a main drag a "for sale" does wonders.

3 if a parking lot or gas station is Not avalable to you try the side of the road rember the magic words "Out of Gas" Most Cops will give leeway for a car that is out of fule.

4 Be inconsicus Dont drive your tricked out import with the "Screemin Yellow" paint or your flat black bronco you just whant your car to look unmemrable

The trick I found to do is look like broken down. It's wintertime here in Pennsylvania so the roads are covered with broken down vehicles.

Park somewhere and hang out a white towel or tshirt. That seems to be the universal sign for "Broken down"

With that cover, you can leave it there for a few hours or so.

Also parking somewhere else and walking/biking also works, but moreover, I try to park somewhere close so I can make a quick get away if need be. Also by parking close means that if you see potential trouble, you can be in your car and ready to go before whomever arrives.

But the concept of "Hiding in plain sight" is also one of the best things anyone can do. Not trying to agure anything, but my opinion is I'd rather park my car in a normal, everyday parking lot at night because who's going to think anything of it really? While also there have been many times I've gone to good lengths to keep my car hidden from sight.

I'm all for "hiding in plain sight." Whenever I take my car to a site I park nearby in a place where a car will not stand out. I've also found that when exploring smaller locations and locations that are of little importance to anyone else it is possible to park right in front. Most people will assume you have a good reason for being there (including cops, they've driven by my car many times when it was parked right in front of a building) and won't question you. This really depends on the area that you are in though.

I've had the cops stop at my car on two seperate occasions look inside the windows and I assume run the plates and then leave. The second best thing to parking your car with other cars is to have a car that doesn't look mischevious. Cops know what kinds of cars kids drive and keep an eye out for them especially in odd locations.

Mischevious/Suspicious Cars-
*Anything Honda/Toyota/Mitsu' that's not completely stock (this includes exhaust tips)
*Light pickups (particularly S-10's or GMC Sonomas)
*Anything with a non factory wing, decals, or fancy looking wheels. (Don't try to be fast or furious)
*Anything with band bumper stickers. (sorry having one is a dead giveaway you are young)
*Groups of smallish/cheap cars. It's not a good idea for poor college students to park together in wealthier areas, just take note of the part of town your in and try not to look out of place.
*Anything with UE gear in plane sight inside the car, cops do look inside cars for a reason and spare flashlights lots of batteries and maps look suspicious.

Not As Suspicious cars-
*Anything Boxy
*Most everything from the 1980's except the odd camaro or mustang
*Most any luxury car regardless of age or condition Cadillac, Lincoln, Acura etc.
*Large pickups, especially white ones.. Think white 1995 Ford F-250 with toolbox
*A good way to make a light pickup less suspicious is to put a camper shell or toolbox in the back. Also consider a construction union sticker, like pipefitters or masonry etc.
*Anything with a ladder rack or a toolbed. Looks like a company construction vehicle and you could probobly get away with parking it anywhere you please.
*Chrysler anything except for older Jeeps and Eagles
*Anything 1970's or older
*I think CB antennas help too, this probobly has to do with the area your in though.

This is my car...
