Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone had been by the BCT recently.. I'm in Buffalo right now working/staying at the Adam's Mark. Heard SO much about it, but I've never seen it, and I would love to take the opportunity while I'm here, or at least very soon.

Just wondering if entry is still possible (using caution of course). Hoping security hasn't been bumped up or anything.

Thanks guys.

Edit: In fact, if someone were to offer to take me, that would be even better.. we can work something out.

The main building is alarmed. You can check out the old concourse, a few side buildings and tunnels with no problems, however the tunnels are flooded.

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

Forget about asking- they're not accessible most of the year. Besides, there are still ways to get in without causing any damage.

nice first post.
How about you forget about breaking in. Show some respect to the people doing the restoration work. It's not about damage. Ask the right people, the right way, you might be surprised at how accessible it is.
And they have gotten the parking lot repaved. I havent seen it yet just heard. and a whole bunch of flower bulbs planted, it should look awesome in the spring.

I'm glad to see Buffalo's most beautiful building is being restored. However, I sincerely doubt that exploration of the greater terminal complex is hampering that restoration. Especially considering that it is closed for events and tours after October.
I saw the pictures of the initial work on the parking lot. Progress may be slow (read: need more funding) but it's good to see it coming along.
I'm not trying to be rude. It's just that a lot of people have a long history with BCT and are used to it being more accessible to the public.
And for the record, I did ask for a tour in the past, and was told I had to wait half a year....

It a thing called respect, why do you think there are alarms? they dont want ppl in there when they are not.Respect their wishes. it has nothing to do with hampering restoration.
I said if you ask the right people...

edit: i just saw the "greater terminal complex". my apologys. i thought you were referring to the tower.

i.e. you? I'm guessing you're part of the CTRC.
But no, I understand that the tower has been off limits for some time now.

Just throwing this in this thread hoping someone who can help me will see it...

I wanted to see if my help could be used restoring the BCT, I checked out the CTRC website looking for a meeting schedule or something but it didn't seem to have been updated in awhile. Anyone that knows more (especially CTRC members i hear there are a few of you on here) let me know if I can be of some assistance. [email protected]

As the DB says, I am on the board of directors of the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation. You can ask me anything you want at any time. As far as meetings are concerned, we have a board meeting Thursday at the Corpus Christi Rectory (Clark and Kent Streets, Buffalo - seriously, those are the real names of the streets haha. Behind the Broadway Market near the Terminal) at 5pm. Public is welcome to attend. We appreciate and accept all the help that we can get.

Buffalo Central Terminal is NOT abandoned, and should be treated just like any other live and active business/location. You wouldn't break into a bank just to see what it looked like, and we expect people to treat us the same way. If you choose to break into the BCT, you will be treated as if you broke into a bank. The building is fenced, alarmed, and monitored at all times. You will be arrested.

I'm not trying to be a hard ass, and the tons of people from UER that have met me, including Liz, Servo, Av and Nightbird, can attest to that. We are more than willing to help explorers see the building, but during our season. Ask Boffo who I let in 2 weeks ago - it's fucking cold inside. Unless you are prepared to give us a decent donation, we do not open the building up in the winter. Contact me any time between April and October and it will be no problem. The building isn't going anywhere, and my apologies if you can't wait "half a year".

The first phase of paving was completed at the end of August. The 2nd phase was to begin last Friday, and as far as I know, it has gone on as scheduled. If it ended up being delayed, it may wait until Spring because it must be above 50 degrees outside. Our website http://www.buffalocentralterminal.org (not the .com) is updated frequently, but now in the off season there will be fewer updates.

For what it's worth, the non fenced parts of the "greater terminal complex" are not owned by the CTRC and we don't care what you do in them, so have fun! More specifically, the 2 story non-fenced building that is attached to our fenced portion is the Mail building and is owned by the City of Buffalo. The severed train platforms (which are badly fenced ie totally accessible) are used to store construction equipment and are owned by Amtrak. The 2 story building down the street from BCT is the REA Terminal, owned by the City of Buffalo.

We ask that you respect our property. The rest is up to you. PM me or email me with any questions.

~ Sara

*edit* And the tower is completely and totally boring. You're not missing anything by not seeing it.

Oh....so they DO own that property...I thought they sold that all back in 1979.

Yeah, I'm not sure the logistics of the whole thing, but Amtrak does still own it. It was severed from the main building in early 80s...83 or 84 I want to say - so it's hard to make sense of it, how the concourse could be in private hands (Anthony Fedele) and the platforms in corporate hands... Fedele did sell all of the light fixtures from the platforms right before it was severed so there must have been some deal made between him and Amtrak. We've spoken to Amtrak about getting the cement roof tiles off of the train platforms to use to repair our roof tiles, and they were open to making a deal. However we don't have the money to do the transfer, as it's going to be quite expensive for the equipment to move those things. I can't imagine how much they must weigh.

Ill back up what was said. They are very nice, and they will take you in. I just showed up one day when they were there, met one of the Directors, who brought me inside and then I think it was Sarah, who may have showed me around.. all the way up to the 7th floor. I plan on going back in the spring (arranged properly of course) and going all the way up to the top. They really are kind and will acomidate you if you ask. But please folks do it the right way. The place is very much an active building and you will get caught if you try to enter.
