This is truly one of the most beautiful yet tragic buildings I have ever seen. I had a chance to check it out Aug10/03 with brutha cool and it was everything and more than it had been hyped to be. The office floors above the main hall are littered with literally tons of old invoices and other somewhat interesting garbage and we came across a couple of old control rooms that ran the train traffic still with alot of old panels and switches. The most interesting part was finding a catwalk that led to a hole in the "floor" that actually turned out to be the place where a large chandalier had at one time looked down on the main hall from the highest point in the ceiling. There's nothing like looking straight down 60 or so feet to the concrete floor below. Its been abandoned since 1979 and has been pretty much stripped of anything valuable but it may actually have a chance to be turned into something viable again. It's good to see the local preservation society cleaning up the old girl and at least doing something positive with it.

Opened in 1929 but never really seemed to be used as much as was expected. The depression occured just after it opened and train travel declined post WWII due to automobiles and air travel.

"As a board member of the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation, I can say that we remain open minded and welcome to plausible reuse ideas. The building was offered to the Seneca Nation for their Buffalo casino, with no interest. There is currently no illegal access to the building. WE WILL PROSECUTE TRESPASSERS. It's real simple to contact us and arrange a tour. If anyone is interested in the public tours and events, all information can be found on our website". ~ Sara Etten" http://www.buffalocentralterminal.org
