| | Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant < on 3/9/2006 3:13 AM >
| | | I've passed this place a few times when going through Arden Hills (northren suburb of St. Paul). This plant is a prime target for exploring and many of the buildings are visible from the circling roads. This old plant was constructed in 1941 and used through the Vietnam war. Obvously ammunition was made here as well underground facilites to test it. Most of the buildings are in disuse. The place doesn't look that hard to get into either. I'm curious if anyone on this forum has seen this place.

| | | As are many AAP's. They are also probably superfund and are very hazardous to enter. The one in Indiana, IAAP, still contains explosives and is very hazardous to enter -- but very tempting.

| | | They ALL contain explosives, until remediated. There are always spills. Also dangerous has different meanings to different people. And yes you may run into some of the people Katwoman mentioned sooner than you think if you hop the fence. They've been cleaning Badger for years and on a scouting trip I was met by a guard before I even thought about going over the fence But he was real nice and answered all my questions and I didn't give him much chance to ask me many of his own.

| | | Yeah there's a bunch of DU penetrators and dust and the soil and water contamination that goes with it I guess. The Mouse found a 120mm shell once at a place that made them years back.

| | | most of those places have a lot guards and toxic bad-ness, i tired talking my way into Badger Army Ammunition Plant but they said no, the grounds are being cleaned and the buildings are slowly being torn down, before 9.11 you could make a phone call and get a escort to walk you around the grounds, they evern had an event for the local public to come in and walk around and look at the grounds/buildings (i think that was in 1998) but like i said, its not a good idea to try to get in with out permission, more so if you have a record >_>

You'd be suprised how many have 0 guards. Most have been closed alot longer than badger and are totally open. Look into it if you wanna check one out, wouldn't have to go too far.

| | | Each AAP is different. And if still owned by the Army it is felony trespassing. So best not to go or get caught. Also the danger factor. That worries me less than missing work sitting in a cell.

Yeah if the jail time's not bad enough, for trespassing alone the fine is up to $10 G on Fed facility . Don't know about you, but for me that isn't pocket change. Plus it's federal court, the lawyer fees are going to hurt. It may not be as unsecured as it looks. Remember 911.

| | | That's when they put up barricades at Badger over this way. As long as it isn't in caretaker status, I guess they all get stepped up security. Never know when a terrorist will crash the gate and try to steal some contaminated dirt....
