Tips and Advice,
Do's
-Bring a *SMALL* legal sized Pocket Knife
-Bring a Mini-MAG flashlight (any bigger and you could attract attention)
-Cary a walking stick
-Test your footing, dont proceed if you are unsure NO MATTER WHAT OTHERS MAY SAY OR DO, your life is worth more then peer pressure.
Dont's
-recognizable Weapons,camouflage,Black ninja outfits,acting evasive or shifty.
-try and be stealthy,
-Run! always walk (momentum is your friend in a car, but not in a fall)
-Walking "around" could mean you live, jumping over or onto can mean your death
-If you do fall, know what to do!
Falling/Jumping from a tall hight mythod
at moment of fall/jump
Place hands/fists behind head elbows in-front. Bend knee's slightly and keep them free *DONT over Tense* when you make contact you want to fall to the ground to absorb the shock. you should make contact in this order 1) BALLS OF THE FEET. 2) CALF. 3) THIGH. 4) BUTTOCKS. 5) PULL UP MUSCLE. never attempt to stand right after a fall or to remain upright upon impact. trying to remain upright is the #1 cause for injury.
If you are jumping from hights of over your own body's hight., you are almost guaranteed to sustain serious injury.
Be safe, because it is not worth your life! many of these buildings that you are going to explore are condemed,boarded up,or abandoned for a reason. happy trails and may you have many fun and exciting UE experiences!

brickworks yes.... hearn might be a bit, shall we say, risky - being that there are on site guards, and you kind of have to know your way around.

| | | | I agree, Hearn is a little intense for the first several excursions. Frequency of police and security patrols on the road and all. Then especially when inside if you want to venture to the more 'interesting' places (which as we know is a very large part of Hearn ie open floors and no railings, coupled with crap lighting in some areas etc).
Brickworks is one place that has its dangers but overall you can't get yourself into too much trouble if you go slowly your first time and keep your eyes out. I'd say thats the most important thing, LOOK. Don't walk around with your head down!
Definitely worth the trip, very accessible to all wanting a little adventure with a flashlight. Tackle the smaller 'hills' first and work up...

| | | | I was there 2 weeks back and it was kinda quiet. Seen a security guard on a horse on the first drive by. Best and always safest bet is to do some recon, drive by several times, devise a plan, walk past or inside the next. Police often (few times a day) patrol that street, mainly to check out Cherry Beach and maybe for squatters. I also found out they aren't fans of stopped cars along the side...
I don't wanna spoil the fun, just check out the land. Its fairly open, so some common sense is needed as a long walk in can leave you in an exposed view. I am going back soon so keep me posted!

| | | | hearn is secured by a 24 hour guard at the front gate, he also patrols the grounds every now and then. also, OPG Security patrol the grounds on a regular basis, as the meetup group found out... over the summer. ha.
i have physically seen them use dogs on the property aswell, but the dog is with a handler.
and now with the new construction which is planned on happening .. very shortly... i think there will be alot of activity there.

Besides a strange amount of construction lighting on the inside the building was pretty quiet for a weekday. Though we didn't stick around too long, I didn't like how there was half a dozen cars parked out by the security shack and all the lights on just didn't give me a good vibe.... and we totally saw 2 coyotes in the field!
