As would I. Perhaps we can get something together on this.

The best time to go is after the last train sops running... around 12am.

Alternatively, if you have a bit of a death wish, you can go during one of the many windows of opportunity after a northbound train passes. You have 10 minutes until it returns southbound. I managed to get in the south portal for a few shots with the tripod, but couldn't walk much further.

Every so often there are days where no trains run at all, such as on Christmas Day I think. If it's not running this year on Dec 25th I might squeeze in an early afternoon visit. I'm curious as to what there is in the dead centre of the tunnel where the ventilation building is.

I live near there and on Christmas day a couple years ago, (when the O-Train was still free) I remember riding it all day during Christmas day, going no where in particular. The driver even let me into the cab and showed me how the train worked.

Now of course the train doesn't operate on Christmas Day.... I miss that.

Also I would be interested to come along for this tunnel trip, I've been wanting to go there for a while now. I live near there so it won't be too hard for me to go there.

P.S. I just woke up so sorry if what I am typing doesn't make sense.

EDIT: Also I haven't really checked out the area in complete detail but from what I've seen, they fenced off the whole track area from the Tunnel to Carleton Station so this will mean fence jumping. On the otherside I wouldn't even consider fence jumping as it's like a trench. At least on the Carleton side it has a slope.

No worries man, I ride to work every day myself... the comment wasn't specifically directed toward you, I was just following Kowalski's thinking
Ah ok! Thanks for clearing that up

But has anyone ever explored it?
Well it's looking like no one has yet. I live like literary 2 blocks away from it so I could easily go at any point. I am looking at Christmas Day cause Trains probably won't be running. (I think we should move all this chat to the other topic that is more relevant)

Okay sorry about the double post but in my view, this wouldn't work well to be edited into my previous post.

Anyway I decided to scout out the fence on my way home (as it's not that far out of the way for me) and I noticed that some people keep putting a hole in the fence near the tunnel entrance. So that might be the best bet into getting around the fence. One of the sides has like 3 layers of fence, I guess that is the City of Ottawa's attempt to prevent it from happening again.

Here are some pictures I took:

I just looked at the O-Train Schedule, last train arrives at Bayview at 23:57, Last train arrives at Greenboro at 00:12, so the last train goes out of service at Greenboro. Makes sense as the yard is close to it.

The fence is easy to hop if you go about 30 feet or so along the parking lot on the west side of the track. Really, it's a minor hurdle.

I often ride the O-train back and forth aimlessly with the kids when my wife gets her hair done downtown. It's a fun trip with lots of old crap to see along the line.

Lol I did that last year when I used to ride the bus and had my transit pass, now I don't do that any more cause I don't got a transit pass and I don't feel like getting a $150 ticket and I don't want to pay for a fare. So yeah lol

Also yes you could jump over the fence in a couple locations, I did investigate that possibility too.

The only reason I take the bus over the O-Train even though the O-Train serves my area, is because the O-Train is just too out of my way to make it worthwhile to take it.
