lets do this in the MDUE board, or maybe make a VAUE board.
to keep it quiet. maybe if we stay stealthy this time, cops wont be waiting for us.

but as for a date, um...if possible, lets wait a while to do this, so i can get off being grounded, and rebuild trust with my grandparents.(i didnt get home till 2, and they didnt like that)

I'm a newbie on this board. I've been doing a fair amount of lone wolf stuff for some time, but never with a group. Needless to say, going alone makes stuff like vagabonds and whatnot potentially hazardous encounters. If anyone is planning on doing anything in the DC/NOVA area, I'm interested. Shoot me an e-mail or IM me on AIM.

Thanks. Places I've been in the DC/Nova area include...

1) The Congressional Cemetary by Potomac Avenue. It's semi-abandoned and has lots of cool/wierd things including a Totem pole and J. Edgar Hoover's grave. Plus it's right next to the D.C. city jail.

2) An abandoned or semi-abandoned Korean Restaurant on Jeff Davis Highway. The people next door at a garden center say Korean people come there late at night/early in the morning and party, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. It looks filthy/abandoned and while it's locked up, peering through holes in the wall and such reveals the inside to be a real mess.

3) An abandoned motel next to a garage on Jeff Davis Highway. It know the garage is active because I spoke to some of the people working there, but I went on MLK day when everything was closed and it was raining/sleeting. The motel's full of junk and includes a rotting deer carcass so obviously while the workers said that the owner of the garage also owns the abandoned motel, it's not like it gets a whole lot of attention.

4) Lots of ruins and urban decay on Jeff Davis highway that I haven't gotten to yet.

5) A bridge on the Anacostia near the anacostia Park on the south bank in SE D.C. with the intriguing graffiti "Narnia" on the side. I just saw it from a distance and haven't poked around there yet.

Further afield...
1) My girlfriend lives out in the middle of nowhere, Northeast of Ashland. There's lots of houses and buildings out there that appear to be abandoned, but in the country you never really know. I'd explore more but I'd rather not find myself at the business end of a .22 like so many deer crossing signs ;)

2) An abandoned house near the railroad tracks in a little town called Ladysmith near my GF's house. It's off of exit 110 on 95-south.

3) An abandoned house I stumbled upon around New Kent on 295/64 while bypassing Richmond and heading to Williamsburg

4) An abandoned 1950s restaurant in Williamsburg.

I think that's about it.

Hey,

New to the boards. I live in Fairfax, VA and want to do some exploring and photographing with other people. I am fairly new to the the NOVA/DC area, moving here from WI about 2 years ago. I'm down for exploring on weekends.

i remember exploring that area when i was much younger. that's not the place i'd send the average explorer. anything near anacostia is asking for it...

it's cool that you've been there. the art there is nice. but for those who are reading this thread, that area is a bit sketchy.

I used to run around Minnesota Ave all the time when I was younger. SE is really rough, but it would not stop me from exploring in the area.

Exploring is like tattoos... They stopped being cool in 2005
