Milwaukee Locations

Anyone here familiar with the many Milwaukee locations? I have been through the Pfister & Vogel tannery a number of times and am looking for some other sites that are safe to go through (i.e. free from security/police). Some other places in the area I would like to check out are the old Hot Point appliance factory in West Milwaukee off of 43rd street and Burnham or the old Solvay Coke plant on the south side. Give me a shout if anyone is looking to check these places out or knows where to get in easily.

Gatsby and I found a huge tunnel within minutes of pulling into the Greyhound station, it might still be accessible. Super obvious and super easy, plus if the workers were lazy about craning out their train for recharging, you'll have transportation.

Turn off the internet and go play outside.

You could try my website, although I think everything listed that you'd be interested in is now defunct.

Pfister & Vogel is still easily accessible to virtually anyone who can walk. Even someone with a wheel chair could basically get into that building in case any beginners are looking for a good start around the area for exploring. I would love to find a way to get into some of the buildings in the Pabst complex. What I worry about most is all of the traffic and people around there now while the freeway construction is going on 24/7. Also, the Pabst complex may be sold now to a new developer so I worry running into some surveyors or planners.

Worry more about the security guard who patrols the area. If you're still interested, head over to onetonpig.com and read Andy's arrest story first. For the record, I'm not Dom.

Hey, I live in the Milwaukee area, and I'm just starting out in urban exploring. I see you guys saying that Pfister & Vogel is a good place to start, but is it safe? I don't know anyone to go exploring with, so I'd most likely be doing it by myself.

There are some interesting abandonded factories near the South Milwaukee/Oak Creek border just south of Milwaukee. They are south of the water treatment plant and north of Bender Park. You could leave the car in the park and hike north along the lake, which includes climbing some broken road curbs, and walk up the cliff. There is a working electrical station along the way that may have workers so I would go on a Sunday, or at least a weekend.

The most significant threat going alone would probably be from other people. I went in alone my first time and remember immediately passing large tanks and thinking that if someone threw me in one, I probably wouldn't be able to get out. They're too big in diameter to shimmy out and the sides are too smooth to climb. Other than that, both my flashlights were dying as I looked for my exit, and it's difficult to wander around a place like that without seeing the floor. If it was cooler I'd say watch out for ice, but that shouldn't be a problem with the weather Milwaukee's been having lately.

The Peter Cooper Glue Factory is a short drive from Milwaukee, as myself and a couple other people from this board have been there. Lots to explore, nice atmosphere, and some rather interesting hills to slide down. Look it up.

Thanks. Other people are what I'm most afraid of, so I was wondering if it was a common occurrence to get in trouble with them (besides security guards). I got some pepper spray, though that I can take with me. Otherwise, I'll just have to suck it up and go do it. I'm tired of reading about everyone else having fun and not me!

As far as I'm aware, Pfister & Vogel is pretty safe. But here is what I know to be careful of:
1) The security guard who patrols the 2 parking lots on the other side of the river. I once tried parking there and walking across the Pleasant Street bridge over to P&V. The rent-a-cop came over to my car immediately and asked what I was doing. He would then go across the street and drive around but it was obvious he was always watching me. I cancelled my trip that night.
2)Also, just be careful of the traffic around the area. The entrance is right on the corner of Pleasant and Water street. You just have to make sure there aren't too many cars when going in.
3) [Mod edit: Do not post entrance info]

The building itself is pretty safe. I have yet to find any soft spots or holes in the floor to worry about. There are plenty of windows if you go during the day that you hardly, if at all, would need a flashlight except for in boarded up offices. I have not run into anyone in there yet. A friend just told me she saw and heard someone did get busted in there just this past New Years weekend so there could be some people keeping an eye. But once you are in safe, it is pretty easy to hide or take a back escape, aquatic escape in the river if completely necessary.

A good place that I originally found out about in 96 is on 32 and Hampton. THey are tearing down part of it, but so are still accessable. I haven't been in there in about 2 years, but have friends that have been there in the last year. you kind of have to watch the neighborhood cause its not the best and they may question why you are even there. ALso, when we were originally getting in, parts were active and parts were not. Focus on the building fathest northwest. Another place to check out is directly behind miad in the third ward (across the water). Its the big tall but skinny building. Kind of easy to get in, but very easily seen, and you have to be able to climd.......

i really want to get into p&v. my friends have always backed down when it came to it. it's good to hear your stories, but they're just adding to my desire to go in. haha.

the factories south of milwaukee are kind of neat. there are two right by each other. we didn't have any problems at them and we were pretty obvious that we were there all the times we went.

I just moved into the area and pfister and vogel is right by where I work. When I was scouting it out there was a truck left running in and a man and a women running out of one of the front doors with big coils of cable in their arms. They threw the stuff into the back of the truck, gave me a "hey hows it going!" and drove off as fast as they could. They didnt even give me a chance to ask if they could hold the door open.
It sounds like the security isnt high enough but I still kinda want to get in since I havent had too much experience in abandoned buildings yet.

I'd say some of the best stuff to see inside of P&V were some old shoe molds that they would wrap the leather around. There are still some pieces of leather inside some areas and a few shoe molds in there. My friend and I did take one old each. They make nice paper weights. There are also a number of old catalogs, desks, phones and stuff inside all over. Many of the offices are still littered full of office equipment and furniture. There are a couple of conveyor belt machinery on the upper levels. And the big chemical mixing tanks at the eastern most end of the building are pretty cool since there are a lot of gauges, levers and dials all over.

I found 2 more locations with easy entrances off of Water street about a block or 2 south of Pittsburgh. If you head south on Water street past the 3rd ward, take a left onto Pittsburgh by the new Alterra coffeeshop. Go up to the second street and take a right. This is the continuation of Water street south. Go 2 blocks up and on your right is National Warehouse. The 2 buildings next to it are abandoned. [Mod edit: entrance details removed]

Archer Daniels milling plant on 43rdish you can see it from miller parkway looks like a sweet place, tho its in demo state, so i dont know how safe some of the higher levels would be to explore.
but the place is huge as hell. i might have a look around and see how the security is and stuff.

very true, the ADM plant is officially shut down. I've been by there many times and it does look like there might be a way in on the north side of the silos. Last time I drove by I saw a number of construction vehicles and equipment parked there like they were about to demolish the buildings. I believe that site is on the schedule for demolishing and redevelopment by West Milwaukee. The more interesting part of the area is the old Hotpoint Factory about 2 blocks further south on the west side of 43rd street. Thats on my list of checking out.

to be continued...

Hey stupid ass, it isn't a good idea to post entrances in a public board where every cop and their uncle or every tagger and their nephew can find it so easily. If you have to describe a way into P&V then it isn't even exploring anymore. And you don't have to be James Bond about that place. Also it's easier to park by Lackey and Joy's. I know people who have walked out in the open to get to the other buildings and no problems. Those guys were cool, I just sat and watched, I don't really explore anything. Also there is one place that is pretty bad where the whole floor is at an angle and saging, but I heard it's pretty cool to try though.
