That obviously could not have been a set. Im curious as to where the building is and if it actually was an asylum complete with crematorium, lobotomy sinks, and most importantly underground tunnels. I'm going hunting for mysteries, cover me. The only part filmed in the Bonner building (other big building there) was where they go by the hydrotherapy tubs at the beginning, and the fake morgue in the Bonner basement. It was done by CGI, Hank's treasure hole is in the Kirkbride, and the other side from the movie is in the other building. I don't think it SUCKED, but it was definitely no better than a "C" in my opinion, and given the fact that they got a huge opportunity handed to them to use DSH for a backdrop, they SHOULD have done a better job. Too bad.... I wish there was more of an uprising to save the place, I don't care what anyone says, other Kirkbrides, asylums, abandonments, whatever, if you take all the variables into the equation at DSH, there is no other place like it on the planet. Over here - a building approaching 100years old get's 'listed' and you can't touch it, you can't knock it down and if you redevelop - you need to keep it as original as possible. Localized areas may have others. For example, we have the Bluegrass Trust which marks historical buildings in our area as well.
