Does anybody who has seen the movie know where it was shot. That obviously could not have been a set. Im curious as to where the building is and if it actually was an asylum complete with crematorium, lobotomy sinks, and most importantly underground tunnels.

There is an interesting thread on this topic already. It looks like people who are not at Level 3 can read it, but let me know if I am wrong about that:

Nope you don't need to be Level 3 to see that forum. Yes the movie got mixed reviews, I did not think it was an excellent movie, just a good scary movie with an excellent filming location.

I finally saw it not long ago. A horrible movie, like most cheap 'thrillers'. I surmise Death Tunnel might be the same way, unfortunately.

I liked the Scottish Guy, Gordon. He went nuts and killed a bunch of people, just like any good Scot would.

DO IT GORDON!!!! DO IT NOW!!!

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.

only good thing about this movie was the extras where the scottish guy kept talking about wanting to kill himself when he was on the roof of the building.

rest of it was pure shit with a pretty backdrop.

See, I downloaded a shitty chinese subtitled version, which didn't have that - or any scene with Mary Hobbes (?) in it!??

Feels like I've only seen a half-film.

They actually filmed most of the inside shots in the Kirkbride. The only part filmed in the Bonner building (other big building there) was where they go by the hydrotherapy tubs at the beginning, and the fake morgue in the Bonner basement. It was done by CGI, Hank's treasure hole is in the Kirkbride, and the other side from the movie is in the other building.

I don't think it SUCKED, but it was definitely no better than a "C" in my opinion, and given the fact that they got a huge opportunity handed to them to use DSH for a backdrop, they SHOULD have done a better job. Too bad....

I wish there was more of an uprising to save the place, I don't care what anyone says, other Kirkbrides, asylums, abandonments, whatever, if you take all the variables into the equation at DSH, there is no other place like it on the planet.

Why the FUCK does a 'civilised' country like the US not have Listed Building Status for places like this?

Over here - a building approaching 100years old get's 'listed' and you can't touch it, you can't knock it down and if you redevelop - you need to keep it as original as possible. This is why we have some 180 year old Asylums here and 300 year old houses!

Fuck, it's a crime knocking the place down!!!

We have the National Register of Historic Places. Localized areas may have others. For example, we have the Bluegrass Trust which marks historical buildings in our area as well.
