Is this the school that was started in the 1800's? If so, Motts has some great pictures of it at Opacity. I would love to find some information about this place. It sounds like it has quite a history.

Its a partially active hospital complex.

It has security

It has empty buildings

The buildings have a few cool things left behind

I fart clouds of asbestos!

Tracey, You have been there! It isn't like you have to sneak around! YOU have permission to be on the property! The whole place is awesome even if you are looking at the exterior! Go check it out! Every building is unique in its own way!

There must be quite a few things a hot bath won't cure, but I don't know any of them.

I just started working at Rosewood Hospital in Owings Mills, MD on February 1, 2006. It is still in operation, but has undergone many incarnations since it started. Several hundred people, most mentally retarded, still live there. The older buildings that are still standing are incredible. I understand they all contain asbestos and that is why they are largely unable to be remodeled. So far, it has been too cold for me to explore the grounds as I intend to do. I have met some employees who have worked at the center for 30 years and more. If I can figure out how to do so, I will post a map on this site. I just found the site through my husband. I'll answer whatever questions I can. We do have security, yes, but its main function is to monitor residents who run away.

Sorry to bump this....

I have been to Rosewood, I only got into the Pembrooke building though :/ But from what I seen it was great. It is a sweet place to check out. When we went we parked in the apartment complex next to it and walked right though the main gates in the middle of night.

Once again, sorry for bumping an old thread.

Can anyone confirm that it's OK to go in and take photos here? I'd love to go back knowing it's not going to land me in jail like exploring Glendale Hospital would.

You can get permission if you talk to the right people.

But where are these people? Id love to legally step foot in the place, but the police just give more excitement to it.

What would be the worst that can happen? Charge you with tresspassin' on government property? I dont plan on vandalizing the place, I just want to go in and take pictures.

I have been there almost 3 years ago and I took some great b/w photos there. We went during the day and it was still very cold inside the buildings. It seems like security is an issue with kids who want to explore, but if what Trishawish is true, that would explain how easy it was for us to just saunter on in.

I'm hoping to go back sometime again, because now I have some better photo equipment.

So, do you all think that this place is haunted?

I plan to do a documentary on the place before it gets demolished.. do you think security will let me in if i inform them of my intentions?

Maybe even some of the buildings that I have heard are boarded up and somewhat sealed shut?

I really want to get in and film/take pictures.

Any help or information about the place is greatly appericated.
Anyone know about the underground tunnels? Like, where they are and everything?

I think they will laugh when you bring up your "intentions". Permission for that place was impossible before the fire. I wouldnt even think to ask now.
