Yeah- whoever told you you could get "Permission" is full of... asbestos. Pembroke and I have spoken to a myriad of people who work on the grounds, from the crazies, the NA meeting attendees, caretakers, nurses, and all other sort of people we've met on the grounds (and in his coffee store) and no matter how many times we tried to get access, the best people could give us were stories, which we also appreciated.

Security is sometimes tight, sometimes lax. We once wandered the grounds for 3 hours, unfound, in broad daylight. We walked through the woods to find ourselves in the more-hidden back (Garrison Forest area) active patient housing. Security drove past us three times and never questioned us. We have been told to leave. We have never had anyone tell us "oh, you're filming and documenting? GO TO TOWN!" We've been told Rosewood has a lot of dirty secrets, and have found some (buildings not properly disposed of, sensitive information and paperwork never destroyed, the incident of a patient being killed due to caretakers ill-treatment a few years ago) and you know what that means?

That means they don't want anyone on the grounds, taking photos. Ever.
So don't get your hopes up, and don't get stupid. I know people who have been arrested on a bad day by cops, and people who have been met by cops upon exiting a building. And now? Now you're likely to get your ass tried for all sorts of misconduct, trespassing, etc.

Do Rosewood a favor, leave it alone. If you had the pleasure of seeing it before it was torn down, enjoy that fact. Don't give them reason to tear down the rest of the buildings sooner rather than later. The more people show up, the sooner they'll throw in the towel and take down everything else. Just leave the place be.

Get down, girl, go 'head, get down.

I'm going to have to agree with Hydrotherapy on this one. I really wish I'd heard about Rosewood a year before I did, because security has been steadily increasing since we first visited. Every time I've found out about something cool, such as external access to underground tunnels and such, it gets destroyed or covered up before I can investigate. Between the vandals, the bums, and apparently people sneaking in through the underground to steal paint (no shit), it's been increasingly hard and risky to get in. And now? I don't think I have to elaborate any more of that.

Rosewood's got some cool history, and it takes a lot of digging to get to any of it. Check that out. As far as the grounds themselves go, enter at your own risk.

I live in the weak and the wounded...doc.
