Is this not a place for everyone? Is it not a place for every urban explorer to come and talk and have an opinion?
The whole incident on the thread by DownsideuP is completely ludicrous from both sides. I am by no means supporting anyones side or actions on that thread, but several moderators had tough skin while others feel short.
Issues:
1. Where is it stated a person cannot say decoratory things about Canada being the lapdog of France?
Last time I FUCKING checked that shit has happened to britain and Blair several times. Many times it was disputed by the regular political people on here. Infact it is usually heavily denoucnced. I dont agree with that statement, I think its ignorant, but by no means should attacked like that by moderators, who are supposed to be the impartial law of the land. Its not raciest, its not toward a individual. Just because it rubs a few people the wrong way doesnt give the moderators a right to lash out and FLAME A TOPIC of there choosing.
2. Flame wars ok for moderators?
Just because its ok for a moderator to start a flame war they shouldnt be stopped by another moderator. Even if there point is absolutely valid. The whole fucking thread went down hill, because 1(or2) moderators got Butt Hurt. This to also include the personal attack on my grammar. Ednothing I think you a pretty decent guy. I have said the same thing to Jester when he has done a similar thing before. However he never replied to a Valid point in such a way.
To all the moderators out there please check your friends. This behavior shouldnt be tolerated by anyone, and at the very least should be stopped. Anyone else causing this issue would be at least temporarily banned. I am not calling for that as they are moderators, but other moderators should lock threads like these, and leave them with a comment about why it was locked.
I personally believe a lock and public display of the abuse would have been better then a deletion.
AV maybe its possible to have a "why a thread was locked deleted" area. That way when a Mod does an action it can be publically stated why.
Threating people that are against your own sane logic doesnt make this forum better. You guys complain about Bush abusing power, and manipulating the system well I must admit it looks the same to me here.

People don't come here to be told that 'they're the problem with America' any more than they come here to be oppressed by stringent forum rules. You have to draw the line somewhere. You have the right to an opinion, but that doesn't mean you have the right to attack people with it.
And trust me, I've seen a lot of good forums go very, very bad because of rampant flame wars over completely unrelated topics. Liberals and conservatives can get along when they aren't talking politics, there's no reason why they can't. But when people start posting threads specifically to attack 'the other side,' then you can really split up a community. This place isn't about 'us versus them,' nobody comes here to be insulted en masse for having political beliefs. Just like any community, if you can't get along without throwing your own feces around like a poorly trained monkey, then yes, there may just be consequences for your actions.
So chill out.

Nowhere, specifically, Mark. But if you need each specific situation outlined in the ToS, you're asking Av to do a shitload of work. Please read the following, taken from the ToS...
"(ix) Moderators and Administrators reserve the right to modify or remove any user's Content for any reason at any time without warning, as they deem fit. They may also remove your entire thread, or move it to another category. They may also modify your profile if needed, but moderators cannot violate your privacy."
Please read it twice so you can take it all in.
I warned DownsideuP to watch his mouth - not because he was specifically insulting Canada, but because he made a general sweeping insult about a large group of people. How would it have gone over if he had said something similar about Jews, or about the US? Would you be complaining about my comment if Downside had said something like "all Jews are cheap" or "all Americans are stupid"? It had nothing to do with Canada - it had to do with his attitude. As a moderator I have the right and the responsibility to assure that the users of UER are treated with respect. If he had said "Mark is a frigging assclown", I would have told him the same thing. Would you have had a problem with me going to bat for you?
As for the thread being deleted... perhaps it could have been handled differently. However, the ToS gives UER moderators the right to do what Ednothing did.
So... in a nutshell, you have no argument.

Ya know, I think I've quit UER like 3 times but once I managed to relax myself and realize that if you're going to participate in grown up discussions you have to be ready to get your feelings hurt and accept defeat.
Now, if you can't handle catching some shit in an argument, or gettin a beat down for saying something stupid perhaps you should pop in that ol' AOL disk and head back where you belong. And ya know what - when you whip off a little rage it comes back at you ten fold.
Especially if you're crossing swords with a Mod, these guys are usually pretty experienced and responsible and from what I've seen, most any of em can talk a 17 year old mormon girl out of her viginity the night before she gets married. So, I'm not saying the mods are better than anyone else, but if you decide to square off on one you better have more than a touch of whit or you'll end up all kinds of pissed off, angry and banned!
If you're used to busting caps off in the hood' don't be too suprised if you find yourself dead when you turn the corner on a trained marksman. That's not to say arguing with them and giving them the occasional beat down isn't impossible, but you gotta choose your target and line up support. I've never known a mod to turn down a good heated foaming spitty mouth type arguments but they tend to not play dirty until their opponent goes there first and it usually just goes downhill to bannination from there.

NO SHIT.... There is a damn difference between a cover statement like that and a two yearold removal of someones post, because he or she it had there panties in a wad. I wont even single ED out because honestly its happened alot recently. You probably know better then I that statements like that dont stop valid lawsuits. It shouldnt harbor a bad action by someone.
