| | | After a successful primary recce to find an entry point to the partly-explorable 2.5km underground section of Bourne (thanks to Jon Doe, and a report coming soon - too 'on-top' for entry today) I was absolutely horrified when we then decided to recce the second location of the day and mooched on down to the Spa outfall. It used to be fully submerged at high tide, and had about 9" of breathing space in low tide. This is how it looks now (sorry - crap nokia camera phone) http://www.utciad....images/boscspa.jpg This is how it used to be: http://www.flashea...z=19.9&r=0&src=msl Totally back-filled from the beach-regeneration project where they dredged 2m tonnes of sand from the bay and dumped it on the beach. There was fresh water bubbling out from the top, and I managed to shift a few stones out of the way on the left of that pic. So the damn outfall is going to be totally full of backed-up water. A real shame, as I would have loved to have seen how far it went. I may still pop a manhole or two in the gardens just to have a look! On a different note, another regeneration project has just been completed in the gardens, and I found this rather fitting tribute to the spa in the play area erected near to the spring's source. I'd love to know if it's mains water from the hand pump or spa water... http://www.utciad....images/bosgar1.jpg http://www.utciad....images/bosgar2.jpg http://www.utciad....images/bosgar3.jpg http://www.utciad....images/bosgar4.jpg [last edit 2/2/2007 7:18 PM by linuxdoctor - edited 1 times]
