Sadly, RHCP are still popular. Stadium Arcadium is still in the US top 5 album charts. Too bad they stopped making relevent music after The Uplift Mofo Party Plan (1987)...

There is active factories and businesses around the place. Being summer the local constabulary should have there hands full with tourists. Just wear your best hawaiian shirt and drag a jet ski behind your ride. You will blend right in. If you take the winding road that follows the river from Lakefield to Peterborough you will see many Locks and Dams that make for good visuals. They are not abandoned but interesting non the less. The abandoned rail Trestle which was a swinging one to accommodate boat traffic is near the Peterborough end. And there is also the building used for a pub by trent which i think is empty as well not far from the trestle. Not sure the status of the pub at this moment. The pub was called the commoner .here is an article about the pub from the trent university paper called the Arthur

I agree... you can turn some beautiful buildings into piles of crap by doing that. Case in point, a beautiful landmark in Whitby that recently caught fire. Some serious damage, althogh it's not on the ground yet... I'm going to have to get some pictures of that place.

A number of local area highschools are being refurbished to various degrees this summer. There's some potential there, however you get in.

I was out looking at my old one last night. I'm on good terms with a past teacher, I'm going to try and get in through him.

I want to know why they're putting holes in the wall, and more importantly, if I can help!

It all kind of went down hill from there.

I've had a bit of an opportunity now to skulk around my old alma mater, never got the opportunity to help putting holes in it though.

Anyways... Dress the part and it's easy to get in them; apparently some have as many as a dozen different contractors at work in them at one time.

unfortunately, I can't return to my stomping grounds. I was doing fine one day until I got caught taking a picture. Guy in a hardhat silently chased me back to the car. Not a real chase mind you, just kept following me.

Afterwards I thought I should have just said I was with the student council, taking pictures for the first newsletter of the next year.

Or headbutted him.

Since this pertains to the Peterborough areas may as well use this existing thread. Does anyone know anything about the tunnel under the River that runs through the Trent University campus?

The only info i could find on a tunnel is that one exists to a building called the argyle building. I know the layout of trent from the outside but not inside or specific names of buildings. Also there is a wind tunnel that i believe is for transferring air into buildings and not for aerodynamic testing. This is all gleaned from surfing the internet.I am sure someone out there can add to or correct my contribution

I am from Lakefield. It's in the peterborough area. I have been in the cement factory, it burnt down a long time ago, and people have tried numerous times to keep people out. Just recently they painted over all of the graffiti at the top, so some people i know had to go redo their art. PS. We are big fans of the red hot chilli peppers.

I went to Trent University and was friends with one of the former higher-ups in the Physical Resources Department and in all our conversations there was never any mention of a tunnel under the river. (I even asked about little know places). He even took me exploring several times with him. All the power conduits etc run in pipes connected to the underside of the Falion Bridge that connects the two shores and campus'.
As for The Commoner, be carefull, it has a security system and reportedly in bad structural condition.

I know several Knights of Columbus and their building (The Hall) in Peterborough is supposed to have tunnels under it. Apparently, the tunnels once led to 'somewhere' though no one is really sure where any more.

On October 29th they're putting on their haunted house thing down in those tunnels. Come on down for a free look even if it is decorated for Halloween.

Next chance I get, I'm going to ask for a tour of the place, post Halloween when it's back to normal conditions.

It all kind of went down hill from there.
