I call bullshit. One of the first things any cop will do is take your personal effects from you. And even if they didn't, good luck getting your wallet out of your back pocket, opened, and take out the key all while sitting in the back seat of a cruiser.

That depends on where you get arrested. Some departments take your personal effects from you when you arrive at the jail, like they did with me. Sometimes,
all they will do is write out a ticket. But it is wise to be prepared for the worst.

Okay, so I've never been arrested, but damn near close.

So heres the story:

You see, my friends and I earlier in the year went to bowling league every day after school and it was a monday. Well, that monday I happened to have this airsoft-type gun in my car from the weekend that I bought at walmart for $14. It shot these little 1/4 metal darts and didnt use any kind of gas or anything to shoot them, just springs.

So after league we were chillin' outside in the parking lot waiting for this other kid to finish bowling, when my friend and I pull out that gun and start playing with it. Well, there happened to be a kid there who was in the "explorers" program which is like junior police bullshit. And that kid happened to be an asshole, and we werent too fond of eachother. So we put the gun away and just sit in the car and liste to music. Well, that kid (the asshole) comes over to my car, writes the front licence plate down, and goes back into his truck and gets on his cellphone. Well, the kid that we were waiting for comes out, and we leave. Shortly after a cop starts following me. So just out of nowhere he turns on his lights, pulls me over. He gets out of his car, with his gun pointed and yells: "DRIVER, PLEASE STEP OUT OF THE VEHICLE." At this point I was like wtf. So I get out with my hands up, he comes over and frisks me and demands to have the gun. This is when I started laughing.
Cop: "WHERES THE GUN?"
Me: "what gun?"
Cop: "The gun, we have had calls about you having a pistol"
Me: (chuckling)"OH, THAT GUN. It's not a pistol, its a dart gun."
Cop: (sort of perplexed) "well, uh, where is it"
Me: "in the glovebox."
At this point there were two other squad cars, and one other police officer that put me in the back of the police car while the other officers searched my car, and took my friends and questioned them.
So after about a half an hour of questions and sitting in the police car they finally told me what was up. They said that they got a call that I had a pistol and that I was pointing it at people, and that the dude wasnt sure if it was real (even though it has a GIANT orange tip). So the cop tells me that he was going to charge me with disorderly conduct and that he could have gotten me for discharging a firearm in public (even though I never discharged it, just because the "witness" said i did. bs.) And he said that I would get my court date in the mail later. I was let go.

So about 4 months later, after thinking they just dropped it, I get this letter, and sure enough I had to go to court. When I got to court (it was satellite court) the guy was sitting at a table with this big book of laws spread open on his desk. He had me tell my story, and said that it was a stretch to get me for disorderly conduct (because it is really like disturbing the peace) and he let me go with scott free.

I got free with nothing, but its still a good 5 months of my life that could have been worry free. What a bunch of bullshit.

Charged,but no conviction.

Many years ago, I was Christmas shopping and I spotted this girl who deserved a serious beating from me, for a bunch of crap that had been happening at the time.
I saw her, went straight for her and proceeded to Level One Assault her and Threaten Death,so the law states, in front of hundreds of people...not smart, I know... I only spent a couple of hours in a holding cell.

I went to court about seven times over it throughout the following year, had a peace bond, etc. before it was finally dropped. Major pain in the ass,not worth it at all.

I've been arrested once, totally not UE related (UE is legal here) - but not much fun anyways.

The police here are overall a reasonable group of people... Here a policeman is a civil servant - whereas in other countries (The US being one) I understand they act more like some kind of military unit?

I'm not sure about around the world, but in Scotland we have special handcuffs known as the 'do not resist arrest' cuffs which basically tighten up as you move around (STAY STILL!!!)... I didn't know this and got itchy balls in the back of the police car.

Scratch scratch

ARGHH!H!!!!! TAKE THESE CUFFS OFF!!! ARGHHHHHH THE PAIN!!!

The marks only started to fade a couple of weeks later.

The cuffs in question:

You can see the central part is linked up - to a spring loaded retainer mechanism - move your wrists a little and they ratchet tighter... And tighter... Idea being if you jump around, act unruly or try and flee you automatically generate so much pain you are immobilised !

They work too!!!

Wow, those cuffs are actually a pretty good idea.
They tighten when you try to pull them apart, or just move around?

They tighten when you move around.

Any type of movement / rotation of the wrists will do it. Also I'm told that clenching your hand into a fist produces a tightening effect.

Then when they are a bit tighter they lock on at that tightness, until you move again; then they get tighter still. Of course as they get tighter, your wrists have the tendency to swell up / get inflamed, which makes it worse!

The moral of the story? Don't f--ing move!

Cops in this country however, don't HAVE to use handcuffs; they can restrain you (if there are two or more cops) by holding you tightly by the wrist. If they are not arresting you per say, or judge you to be a low risk of flight then they might take this option.

I'm not sure about cops in other countries, but here you have less doughnut shops per capita and the cops seem to be a lot more fit and agile; running is sometimes more hassle than it's worth!!

Haven't been arrested either, but got pretty close. Not UE related though.

Back in my.. uhm... drug days.. 2 friends of mine were tripping on acid and stoned, and I was 100% sober (seriously). They wanted to check out a park, so I took them to 2 really nice ones in Addison TX (anybody on here in DFW - Celestial Park and Quorum Park). Of course, the parks officially close at 11, and with both parks, the only parking for at least a mile around is directly in front of them. Mistake #1.

So I'm letting them wander around, while I'm just pointing out neat stuff for them to trip out on. We see a police cruiser drive by - this particular park is hilly, and we weren't visible at all from our position, but my car sure as hell was - we just saw the top of the cruiser go by (back then, Suburbans.. this is a very rich city.. they have Dodge SUV's now). We all decide it'd be best if we head back to the car about a minute after the cruiser disappeared

Cutting through some trees, all of a sudden there's 2 flashlights in our faces, with 2 officers behind them, one saying "Well where do you think you're going?". I looked the asking officer straight in the eye and told him "honestly, I was hoping we could make it back to the car before you saw us, I guess that didn't work", which made them laugh (which was what I was hoping for).

The 3 of us got searched, thankfully none of us had anything on us beyond IDs and keys. All 3 of us also got field sobriety tests - both friends failed miserably, I passed just fine. They found my car keys in my pocket and asked if they were for the beat up white Honda by the park, and asked if I was the one driving ("unfortunately, yes" and "yes sir"). They said both of my friends were obviously stoned and probably on something else too (... no shit), I didn't say anything. They ran our ID's, none of us had warrants or priors, so they just told me "okay, you're obviously fine to drive, all 3 of you need to get out of here, otherwise we're going to have to start writing tickets for public intox and trespassing".

"Sure thing, thank you sir, you guys have a good night". Lemme tell ya, as soon as they were out of sight I gunned it until I was out of Addison. Well, about as "gunned" as an 88 honda accord (carburated, 90hp) with well over 200k miles can be gunned.

Funny thing is.. several years later (last year) I wound up delivering pizza in Addison, directly across from one of their police stations. Wound up meeting several of the cops, the majority of them wound up being really cool. Surprisingly, they never pulled me over - late at night toward closing I'd usually be tooling along around 15 mph over the limit on the major roads, with the Papa Johns sign on the car. The worst I ever got was one cop flashing his headlights and wagging a finger at me. Probably helped that I always waved at them.

As far as removing personal belongings before placing you in the squad car...all i know is that I was stripped down like no tomarrow right after i got the cuffs. My friend however didnt get the cuffs and he made it into the back seat of a cop car without any searching other than a pat on the pockets. As far as hiding the cuff key in your wallet though...even if they left you with it after they cuffed you....i hope they dont have a license plate connected to your name, and i hope any identification in your wallet is fake.
My story anyways was this....pulled over for going 30 in a 25. Cop tells me i was going between 40 and 45 but couldnt give me an exact number because he didnt use the radar gun and he saw me from the side so he couldnt pace me. Later in the report i find out he decides to say i was going 55. He did that so that he could have probable cause for searching my car so he calls in 8 more sherrifs to help remove panels from my car in search of drugs. I was in a honda with two other friends and they were probably just profiling us because those cars are known for street racing in my area. When they found a flashlight in the car they called it a robbery tool and acted like they were gonna pin us with that charge, but I really dont know where we would have fit anything that we would have stolen in that little car. So the guy finds a can of pepper spray in my car without a label and goes fishing in his law book for some time. Finds out that its a felony and figures hes got nothing better to do that nite than stick me with it. So i end up in the felony tank on mothers day for 15 hours, do a handfull of court dates, 50 hours community service, pay some fines, and eventually get dismissed. Needless to say the cop was bored and got punked when he was a kid and this is his only way to feel like hes got a pair. Sad really for him. I dont know how people like this are given so much power, but what are you gonna do? A complaint doesnt do much unless the guy has tons of them against him. Really the law was just too hard to define and they couldnt pin too much on me. And after me doing community service on my own will, not even as a suggestion or sentence from the judge, the judge had good heart and let me go. As far as the inside of the jail goes for anyone that hasnt been there...It's the grossest place youll never want to be, the food sucks, everything smells like vomit and urine, the cops only get worse on the inside, and i dont recommend it in the least bit.

yeah...a little too raph

I'm a lot more concerned about people that might catch me, who would break the law, than law enforcement itself. Growing up in a small town in the middle of the woods, and having to choose between football, or being a punkass guarantees you'll get you ass kicked one way or the other.

Non UE - related

I've already been arrested in my «jackass years» You know when EVEYRONE made jackass, anyway ours was a pretty classic one. Dropping our food on the floor after buying it in a fast-food restauran on camera. What happened is one of us get caught, he went to the bathroom just before the "hit" and didn't said it to anybody. So bang i drop all my food on the floor and all my friends and I ran to a park near there, after a couple of laugh we look each around " Fuck, where is Nick ?!?! " We ... well I returned to the fast-food and I saw my friend sit on a chair being shout by every customers, clerks and by the manager. I was about to go «free him «when I saw a police car parking and head to my friend, I freeze and wait. After two minute of waiting I decided to pump myself and went for it. I've entered the parking lot and my friend saw me and point in my direction. the two female cops walks to me . I explained her bullshit, it was all lies «Oh it was for a project in our school, etc etc " I was about to continue my story when of the two said " Your friend already told us everything stop your bullshit ! "

damn

They opened the door and asked me to enter in the police car, my heart was racing. They asked my ID and everything and said they were going to drive me to my home so they could have a talk with my parents. At this far I don’t know what they said because of glass was separating the backseat and the front, buy I'm pretty sure what happened is that they didn't want to drive all this; I was living 20 minute away from there. So they drive for 5 minute and stopped the car and let me go. I didn't know where I was, they said have a walk it's going to make you think of what you've done. After a 30 minutes walk I finally found my friends house and could praise my courage ;).

Was 5 years ago.

PS: My english is not top-notch but I am woking on it !

Here's a question for you guys: a few weeks back, a friend of ours got busted at a place we introduced him to. He was detained but not arrested, during questioning they asked him for the names of the people he took last time. He gave the names of the two people he took, not us, and that was that. The police called one of them on the phone and recorded their conversation. They asked her who had told them about this location, and she cut a deal with them (bad fucking idea, don't make deals with cops) that if she gave the name, the person would not get in trouble. The guy whose name we dropped was one of my good friends who I UE with on a regular basis. A few nights ago, the local police were banging on his door at 11:40 PM with a notice to be in contact with the ______ County Sheriff. He calls me and tells me, and after some brainstorming, we realize that this location is in _____ County and so we start to freak out a bit. My name's not mentioned of course, but my buddy is in some serious trouble....I could be easily implicated anyway.

Here are the questions: this building has a surprisingly tough security system for an old abandoned place, CCTV and PIR Sensors along with an integrated alarm system. After we got in, though, we realized what the security was about: several hallways are absolutely LOADED with boxes of medical records, case files, etc. These boxes were about three deep, two or three high, and ran down the entire hallway...I'll venture a guess at about twenty long or so. When that first guy got busted and questioned, one of the people at the scene (police/keyholder) mentioned to him that storing the medical records there is really rather illegal, but that you don't know that and well we're going to let you go with no charges, understand? If that's true, it makes sense for them to be scrambling to track everyone down and let them know to keep quiet about these records, and thus we're totally safe. Does anyone know about the merits of such a claim? I checked the Revised Code and only found that personal medical records are classified as 'private information,' nothing about the storage of such information. Anyone with legal know-how able to help me out here? Also, the cop supposedly promised that girl during a recorded phone conversation that if my friend's name was dropped, he wouldn't get in trouble. I smell bullshit, but if the promise was made during a recorded conversation, is it binding? Would he be able to be busted after such a promise?

A cage went in search of a bird.
