| | | Dead Cells (Fuck the Warden) - 26 pics < on 10/15/2013 12:33 AM >
| | | Over the weekend my lady and I took off to Kingston. En route we explored a fantastic old farmhouse and very old cabin. On the way back we met up with Jerm, terapr0 (nice to put a face to a name) and his other half to visit a dead drive-in and a burnt out, craptastic industrial site (future thread fodder). In between was Kingston Pen. There were places the tour didn't take us, but for the price and the time allotment it was pretty damned solid. The guide was great, although I basically tuned her out the second we started out. By ensuring I was either a step ahead (or many steps behind) the other 24 or so individuals in the group, I found many opportunities to shoot. To the others going...enjoy - add to the thread if you like. Thanks for viewing... 1. KP 1 by Doom vs, on Flickr 2. KP 2 by Doom vs, on Flickr 3. KP 3 by Doom vs, on Flickr 4. | | | While developers debate the future of this property, I suspect more tours may become available. 9,000 people snatched up tickets for this tour - that's a lot of future potential charity money.

| | | Thanks for sharing the photos. The place appears to be in exceptionally good condition considering its age. It must have been costing Corrections Canada a boatload of money every year to keep it that way if they decided against keeping it running. I can't wait to see what the powers that be decide to make of this magnificent property.

| | | Yes, it was in exceptionally good condition throughout (places visited, anyways). So clean considering that the population was moved only about two weeks ago. I was hoping for more grittiness...and of course, the tunnels would have been a cool addition to the tour.

| | | I really hope this prision like the old Kingston PEn gets turned into a muesuem - because based on the ticket sales for the tours theres certainly the interest for it.

I'm a supporter of gay rights. & not a closet supporter either. From the time I was a kid, I've never been able to understand attacks upon the gay community. There are so many qualities that make up a human being. By the time I get through with all the things that I really admire about people, what they do with their private parts is probably so low on the list that it is irrelevant. - Paul Newman |

| | | Big fan of the perfectly chosen symmetry and composition of 1, 2 & 14. If you tried hard to make them perfect - bravo! If you didn't even know that you did and it was entirely natural, a even bigger cheer.

| | | Can't get over how awesome #1 is. I keep scrolling back to it. Just so beautiful. I want to make that my album cover. Not that I have a debut, but ... I swear I'm going to launch some impromptu musical career to give Jerm's a run for the money.

| | | Wow. The tour was awesome. Thankfully the rain held out. Of course on several occasions I snuck off from the tour and evaded guards and volunteers and accessed off limits areas. I'll put my post together tomorrow.

| | | On September 30th, 2013, moments before the last handful of federal inmates were transferred to different facilities, the Kingston Penitentiary held the distinction of being the oldest prison on Earth still in operation. Sitting ominously on the lapping shores of Lake Ontario in Kingston, the notorious penitentiary has been home to some of Canada's most infamous criminals. The Provincial Penitentiary of the Province of Upper Canada was constructed in 1835, before the birth of the country of Canada. Shortly after confederation it became known as the Kingston Penitentiary, and in time became referred to by inmates, guards and locals simply as KP. Constructed with local limestone using convict labour, the imposing structure became a model for other institutions the world over for over a century to come and was even admired by the likes of Charles Dickens, who toured the facility in 1842. Click this link to read an extensive write-up and tour the prison in more depth... http://jermalism.b...-penitentiary.html
