indeed....but I hear that's quite a daunting task to get in there due to what's around it/security/etc.

I am fairly surprised the cop did not take you into custody. Must have been having a good day. It is patrolled by armed federal VA police along with a private security agency. 24/7. A few buildings have alarms that have power running to them. I live nearby and am familiar with a few other locals who have been arrested and prosecuted. Typically the police around here will consider any trespassers there burglars which results in a K9 & police helicopter headed your way in just a few minutes. Police have been relatively strict on the place due to a fire that burned down one of the homes on the property. Funny thing, the guards even have night vision that they use. Not afraid to enter the buildings and chase you down either. One major problem that was going on was, there is an active VA outpatient clinic on the property, scrappers were cutting the electrical wires to that building as well. It may sound like I'm just trying to scare people off, but this is how it has been for the past year and a half. Like anything, It's still accessible, just don't be stupid and take photos out in the middle of the open.. Not worth the risk imho. I'd rather not get a federal trespassing charge.

This is all surprising, he really didn't seem to care that much.

I agree, it is surprising. Perhaps he was a fill in on a slow day, or something. I have talked with the normal personnel and they seem to be fairly serious about their job even though they seemed to not have a clue what the hell they were guarding. They looked at me like I was the strangest person on earth for even caring about the place.
