How golden of an opportinuty did I miss in NOT taking a photo of the wee Ned, halfway through a concrete archway with his leg running paralell and AWAY FROM his body.

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit. |

I realize your reason for putting your nickname for them into the encyclopedia - because other people didn't know what they were. It was helpful because now we all know that in scotland, asshats are called neds. What I'm getting at though, is that these people are all over the entire planet. Should we start filling the database with every localized term for "asshole"? Hmmm...

I totally appreciate what you are saying - you will find dangerous people, delinquents etc anywhere, and everywhere has localised names etc. However, Scotland is a country, not just a state, and this is a term you will find everybody here using. Also, as i previously pointed out, there really is a big difference between a Ned and your common deliquent, junkie etc. Therefore i think it is valid to mention when describing potential site hazards that you may encounter Neds, and not just "deliquents".
I can only speak from the experiences of the many friends i have who are over here from the US/Canada studying. Believe me, they have very quickly learned what a Ned is, and will testify that they have never encountered anything quite like them "back home".

Could be. Perhaps no one else really cares ?
Also, NEDS is an Acronym and it is also recognised in the Oxford English Dictionary - not a slang term or opinion on personal websites or otherwise.

This thread started off driving the road off 'Anally retentive', then moved onto 'Pointless to discuss further' now it's crashing it's way into the range of 'Completly Sad'.
Is this really such an important matter that it deserves a FOUR PAGE thread ? Have we nothing better to do? Read a book ? Visit a loved one ? Chr!st...

She specified because Scotland is a country (great, I had no idea) as opposed to states/cities etc. But what is the relevant differenence here when you're talking about dumbasses that are everywhere ? The only real correlation I can see is that she felt because it was a country-wide term, it was more relevant. Well, the province I live in would hold Scotland many times over, and all across the province you'll hear the trerm Junkie, so I was demonstrating that I see no validity to her post. I figured using illustartion would help make you understand... but i guess I was being overly optimistic.

Currently any kind of usefull input to this thread from me is a glance towards over optimism as my question has been answered and I've grown bored of the thread - it's now fairly pointless in my eyes.

The encyclopedia here is intended for people to share knowledge that directly relates to urban exploration and is also useful or interesting to a majority. I sincerely could care less what you call the gang bangers in some far away country, and I'm pretty sure the majority of the forum would agree. That country is no less significant because of it or anything, it's just that it doesn't matter. If I were to let you keep neds in there, I would have to allow every one of the terms brought up by Krenta and whoever else posted a bunch of examples. I personally don't want to wade through a bunch of stuff that has no application or importance for me to get to stuf that does.
End of issue; it doesn't belong and won't be allowed to stay there. Now quit arguing back and forth about this. I'm locking this thread because it's a waste of peoples' time to keep checking back here for some groundbreaking post when it's just more arguing.
