Posted by TheVicariousVadder So what are the specs on that? Can it only nail stationary vehicles or can it hit a moving target too? |

Posted by Intrinsic Request for Proposals should give you some idea of what it's capabilites are to be. It works on moving cars, speeding cars, stationary cars depending on the positioning of the cameras. The Ministry of Transportation will provide a 'hot sheet' daily of stolen vehicles/plates. Here's an interesting video of a Toronto police car and their in-car plate reader. |
Posted by HairyTheTaco Not a post of a picture, but a question. On my way to work today, I seen an OPP cruiser with what looked like a pair of little black hockey sticks sticking out from the light bar on the roof. They appeared to be attached to the light bar horizontally, with the "blade" part of the hockey stick pointing down at a slight angle, almost looking like a second set of miniature side-veiw mirrors. Posted by Exothermic This is hotlinked off of a friends facebook because I have yet to get a picture of one myself. Birmingham Metro Police really use these! You don't see them every day though. I wonder what they were thinking when they decided to use some smart cars as Police cars (Budget crunch!?). And imagine being the cop who has to drive around in one. http://photos-a.ak...6413_1337173_n.jpg |
