I still haven't made it out to this amazing looking place. I'd better get out there while it's still with us. I think it would be fun to go see it with you seedy. How about a return visit? I'll give you a call in a bit to work out the details.

Anytime TRUE. I'm sure others would be down as well.

So Seedy, Spacetimecurvature and I paid a return visit to this site for an update on its condition.

1. Including these, I have accumulated 47 post-able shots. Despite being a large site full of shootable scenes and details... suffice it to say that we're a little shot-out.

2. There is a noticeable progression of graffiti from the last time we visited, not to mention the first time I visited this place over a year ago.

3. We actually ran into 5 young, low-level taggers in the course of shooting the site. We acknowledged each other and left each other alone.

4. The first step here is a doozy. Due to the high winds of the day, we opted not to cross the high catwalk between the towers.

5. An upside of all this tagger traffic: it seems like somebody made an effort to secure the dangling 1/2-ton weight in the northern tower stairwell. And then they tagged it.

Despite losing a bit of its photographic attraction for us, SWAV is still (and always) an adventure and not to be missed.

If I count the exposure-bracketed shots as the same photo... then I only came back with 8, heh.

I would not be surprised if "Jely" was actually the one who left this door open for everyone to see his perfectly-placed tag.

I sure as heck hope they didn't simply drop it. The impact of pretty much the densest object short of a naval artillery shell has gotta have some detrimental effect on even reinforced concrete.

I didn't see any evidence of damage, and the block was placed inside one of the rooms a few floors down, I'm guessing someone carefully lowered it, and then moved it into that room.

OH YEAH I ALMOST FORGOT... the door with the hole cut out of it is gone!

There used to be a metal door I'm sure you're all familiar with. It had a big square hole cut out of it, that you had to climb through to acccess the stairwell. I'm guessing whoever moved the 1000lb weight out of harms way also removed the door.

Edit: resized picture.

I'm hearing reports of a structure fire involving the Pier at this location, my information is about an hour cold. SFFD had a fireboat deployed.

I have no way of confirming this at the moment, it was just a bit of information that was passed my way. Fire scanner is quiet at the moment.

Sorry for digging up this old thread, but this location looks amazing.

Do you know who runs the truck parking on the side of the building? I was there yesterday at 2-3 am and it looked very active, it didn't seem like the best time to explore.

I don't know... but they can screw off for all uer'ers care- unless there happens to be dogs or someone in a trailer. Either the Windows on the side facing the holey piers are open or they're not. If they are not closed off, do it.

Btw, I get what you mean in that last pm about my confusion with the "wrong" cranes. I totally assumed from the loading ships title without even looking at the pix... because the cranes shown are more for building boats than loading them. Alright, good luck with the silos.

Oh I see, I didn't really know the difference between the types cranes, sorry about the confusion.
I didn't see anyone looking outside the trucks, so I could give it a try.

I just took a closer look today, and these windows are all sealed now There is no way to get in anymore in a non-destructive way.
