that is the bane of a mass produced sports car. we're not talking about a hand-built exotic running 6 digits on the window sticker. We're talking about a mass produced, relatively inexpensive sports car that will run with a handmade exotic.

You've got to look at it from that perspective. And the Viper, that made the Corvette look like a damn Veyron.

by the way, no new car for me... still stuck with the same old cobalt.

Nothing wrong with that Cobalt.

And yeah, the Veyron, another subject. It's such an incredible car... but holy fuck it's ugly. I'm sorry. VW can do better. (ie, the W12 Nardo concept car they had)

(ok, the side louvers are a bit dated, but it was 10 years ago or something!)

what do you care? you wouldn't know what to do with one if you got one.
hard to accept that they're world class sports cars isn't it?

lol @ corvette being a world class sports car, I guess the cobalt is one too?

It's tough to benchmark World Class Sports Car as a term.
If we're pegging against Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mclaren etc.... it's tough to compare the quality and fit and finish of a Vette to such beasts.

Of course I could buy 3 Vettes for the price of one of those.

Z06 & ZR1 are blazing fast...and the stock C6 is no slouch.

Stuff a Vette in the garage and bank $100 grand .... vs. a Ferrari.

If you can't drive either of them to the level that they can perform ie - daily street driving, aside from prestige how do you justify a Ferrari etc...?

side note....creepy as i'm typing this, song on the radio in my office comes on "Little Red Corvette' by Prince.

weird

why not? it ran circles around the GTi and covered the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 8:22.85 in 2007 which wasn't too bad. Also, in a shootout done at Virginia International Raceway, the Cobalt was holding its own against cars well out of its price point.

it's not a perfect car, by any stretch, but where else were you going to get a 150+mph car for under $23k?

oh how i love the Nordschleife!

The words "class" and "Corvette" don't often end up in the same sentence.

Reduced Power means that somewhere in your sensor package, something has failed miserably. In my Cobalt SS, i had that issue when one of the throttle position sensors failed (i got water into it). The engine would run, but it went to a conservative fuel map, ignition curve and completely bypassed the supercharger.
did you get a Check Engine or Service Engine Soon indicator?

I was pretty surprised when I saw a mid-90s Caravan driving down a tiny street in Rome.

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

Check engine light came on. It was sitting for a week and we had a snow storm too, not that that should have anything to do with anything. I'm gonna try it again tomorrow... maybe the Chevy gods will magically fix it tonight while I sleep.

oddly enough, when I had the downstream 02 sensor out of my Cobalt, it did not trigger a CEL/Reduced Power message... see the systems only run so many checks at once. Like my problem with the throttle position sensor; Once it dried out, the computer ran through the test and the problem went away.

At least you get a limp mode! On the Cherokee or really any jeep with an 2nd gen EFI, if the CPS, TPS or IAC fails, the engine stops dead!
