Coming from somebody that works in a car plant I'm not sure how this would have slipped past both Assembly Inspection and Vehicle Performance. The only way I can see it getting past is because of a production switch over from another model but even then the cars should have been tested.

im quite sure that loaded calipers are installed on the assembly line. The mess up most likely occurred up stream quite a ways from final assembly. Guy on the assembly line probably never even noticed, just installing them just like the 10,000 before it.

10,000 cars is roughly 10 days worth of work. It takes roughly 4 hours for a car to line off in assembly. So within the first day Assembly Inspection should have caught wind of a problem. As for the guys online, yes, they are preloaded from a supplier or a sub line in the plant but those parts are normally checked before being installed. That's how I see it done everyday that is.

It was only ONE pad.... there's 7 more pads (6 that would be functional)
what's the big deal?

A little pull to the left...a little longer stopping distance...

guy i work with has an older Aveo... no power steering, no power brakes, rear windows don't roll down, no back seat. no A/C, no radio... it was like $6500 new.

Lake Orion, MI you mean. It's the plant that used to make the G6 and the Malibu.

Honestly, what are you expecting from a Turbo Aveo? That's an oxymoron if nothing else.

And you are going to have your brother check the brakes, right?

The Sonic seems like what the Aveo should of been in the first place.

I think I have mentioned my theory on Daewoo's R&D guys being great but their production engineering just sucks...
