new regal actually looks kinda interesting

It's so god damned underpowered though... I drove a few while I was still at GM, it's a well made car but the Ecotec just isn't enough for it.

All cars, like em or hate'm need fuel. Did you run out, or is this some GOD BLAST AMERICA thing? Did something defective about the 'car' cause the problem, or was it secondary. Meaning a tire, bad gas etc.

Okay, I Don Juana be no smar tass, so mechanical diagnosis plese.

I'm guessing if you were in a Hyundai, you would have written this much earlier...

P.S. It's late, I mean Early, and I've had a few.

Seriously though, we should know; what caused you to need a tow.

So many factors: Year of car, type of problem, service history, mileage, competence of mechanics doing past work.

And BTW, I'm not heartless, sorry for your hassles.

2005 GMC Savannah, 4.8 liter, 133,000 km - fuel pump failed. Whilst failing, also burning up fuel pump relay, and associated bits of wiring.

I abandoned it in the forest. It can rot there.

(And yeah, I own 17 Volkswagen products currently.)

Interesting story, have to admit, I'm not at all impressed. That seems way low mileage for a fuel pump failure. Maybe this is a known weak point of these engines or vans, or a fluke. The real mystery here is why you were driving a GM, thought you quit that scene.

As you mechanics know, smacking the gas tank with a base ball bat or two by four can 'fix' a messed up fuel pump or gas gauge. At least get you going. Your situation was of course different.

A mechanic told me if my parents '94 Skelly Edition 3.0 Voyager Mitsubitchi motor noisy fuel pump minivan won't start, just smack that tank.

Got my old '90 Cherokee going one time by hitting the starter with a hammer. Gotta love that Model T way of getting going

Yep, your VW collection is amazing...

in my experience, repeatedly running a fuel tank low or using shitty gas from old tanks kills fuel pumps... BUT, when I worked for Bond Auto Parts in Burlington VT, we stumbled on a problem our GM customers were having. S10's and Corsica's 'ate' our fuel pumps, usually within 6 months. the actual GM replacement pump, or NAPA pump seemed to work fine.

no idea why.

Who was the part made by? I know there are some aftermarket brands that don't make parts exact spec to Mopar; I'm sure there is the same issue going with GM.

The GMs with factory remote start systems were awesome when the starter failed, I could lie underneath while beating the starter with a hammer and hitting the remote button!

We had a bad batch of fuel pumps within a week at VW... they've never been a problem point on VWs, and all of the sudden we got 8 cars in a week, all within the same build date.

Haven't had any in since that week. It was really odd.
