Posted by Samurai Chryslers' parts department is a fucking train wreck. Back in 2000, i had an 86 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z. Anyways, i needed some dealer-only parts. Basically the vacuum lines that ran from the passenger side inner fender to the manifold... the plastic lines had dry-rotted and collapsed and were allowing the computer to get false readings. Eventually, it kept burning up the power module. I went to the Dodge dealer in Dayton TN and tried to order the parts... the fuckface behind the counter laughed and told me that it was no longer available and that I should just buy a Neon.

Now that's interesting! I know people who still get parts for AMC Eagles at my local Jeep dealer. Tommorrow while I am at the dealer to get a crankshaft position sensor (hey they have it the cheapest!) I am going to ask about a 86 Daytona.

Here's the story: After getting my CPS for my Cherokee, I ask the parts clerk about the vacuum hose for the Daytona. He first explains that there was some parts on the Daytona that were discontinued around 2000 due to the supplier that Chrysler was using for some components on the Daytona and a few other cars no longer wanted to make those parts in low volumes. He look at look at his computer for sport to see if there was anyone with old stock of it laying around and of course no. One of the techs across the office overheard what I asked and came over to me and said "Its much easier to replace the weird solid vacuum hose pipes with regular automotive vacuum line than trying to track down those things"

um.. thats what i would have done in the first place.

That's what I had to do on mine in 2000.
hi i like cars |
|
everytime Ive had a vaccum hose issue I just go to autoparts store and cut off the length I need from the big reel.... Maybe Im doing it wrong?
|
|
those techs must not remember how small those lines were... there was no rubber line that small or I would've done that.

Washer hose that fits on the actual wiper arm works well.
