That's because Nismo also changes the oil pan

He's actaully not that far off the mark. If you Synthetic oil plus a excellent filter, it probally would be 50.

the Cobalt SS runs Royal Purple 10W-40 and a Delco oil filter (oil is about $60)
the Beretta runs Valvoline Max Life 10W-40 and a K&N oil filter.

the Cobalt takes 6 quarts because of the supercharger... at $9.** a quart, plus sales tax, plus NY's 'lubrication' tax... it's fucking expensive.

No idea how quarts are measured but I take litres or so in my car.

My buddy has a W8, that is like a 150.00 oil change if not more lol.

What? What did I say? I told you your information was helpful. Plus, I was hoping you would compare the cost of, say, tires on your car as opposed to the cost of tires on Trent's. That would make sense too, right?

You sure are a touchy little guy, aren't you?

Yeah...I just switched to synthetic on my Honda Passport. Got a case of Mobil 1 at Costco for 32.99 plus a K&N oil filter at O'Reilly for 14.99.

Trolling is pretty lame unless your 'victim' gets all worked up. Seriously, why would you make a dumbass remark and then say "lol i troll u" and declare victory? And yet you'll say "Hah, I trolled this random guy too lol!"

Now, it seems that Trent's questions were answered by folks who were serious about giving good and relevant advice. This other business adds nothing so, I'm done for now.

Trent, it is people like you who keep the auto repair industry alive. I applaud your willful ignorance of basic mechanics.

It is so easy to do wipers, air filters, etc, at a fraction of the price. Oh but why save money... you could use it to pay for gas on a road trip. But Whod want to do that? Sheesh what am I thinking??

(Its right there. Grab it. Oh wait, you cant, because you spent it on inflated labor costs pulled right out of the book)

I don't think it's ignorance. I consciously chose to chose saving my time over money and I value my time more while knowing that it's blatantly obvious that doing it yourself is cheaper. It's only that since I needed other work which I can't do myself at this time that I decided to add on these extra simple things purely out of convenience so I didn't have to deal with it. I enjoy having the financial freedom where I don't mind wasting my money how I choose. Everyone here wastes money here one way or the other on something on their life...

Also, you might have missed the part where the wipers were free. And please don't assume I don't know how to change an air filter, wipers or other basic things. Hell I could have changed my brakes and rotors myself if I wanted to. I simply chose not to.

I love how I came here to ask a question only to have no one attempt to answer it but instead tell me how I'm doing it 'wrong'. Thanks everyone that responded, but I've gotten enough 'help' from this thread.

I'm with trent on this one. Doling out An extra 20 bucks to avoid the labour of an oil change or whatever, sometimes simply isn't worth it, even to those who can. I have a full service auto shop at my disposal 24/7 and the parts, accessories and tires to go with it. I paid my guys to do the last 3 oil changes. It's not worth my 20 bills to suit up in my coveralls, hoist the truck, pull off the skid plates etc....

Even without the ability, it's still kind of harsh to call someone ignorant for not working on their own car. People who are "ignorant" of computers keep that industry alive. People who can't do basic repairs to their home (fix a leaky faucet, change a plug) keep that industry alive.
It makes the world go 'round man.

Yeah, if it weren't for "ignorant" people... I'd be out of a job.

More ignorant are people who THINK they can fix cars, and just butcher everything.
