New torch arrived today! This replaces the Fenix I had on my keyring until recently when I lost the head off it.

I recently got this tiny lil guy. It is about the size of a .45 bullet. A Streamlight Nano. $5.00 USA. This is the best keychain light I have ever owned. I was so impressed I bought a few more to give as gifts. All were also impressed. It's machined aluminum & boasts a limited lifetime warranty. I say pick one up. You wont be disappointed. If you are? It was only $5. You spent more on coffee today.

That's a cool looking keyring light. I'd get one if I hadn't just received a keyring light in the mail today

I have a mag solitaire, and its very nice for $6. Its pretty bright and I haven't changed the battery in mine. That is the light I keep with me on my key chain, lol.

I had one of those for years. Actually, I still do, but the bulb went and I never replaced it.

I'm not gonna knock the Solitaire. I am a Mag fan. It is a quality light that has never failed me. I own several. But this lil Nano puts it to shame. On every end of the spectrum. Size, $, beam strength & battery life. Here is a lil side by side comparison.
This is my kitchen.
It's not much but it will work fine for my comparison. I have the camera set back 12-13 ft from wall. So the beam is aprox 15 ft from wall. Here is the Solitaire
This is a brand new battery. Stock bulb. Again, aprox 15 ft from the wall. It is adjusted for the tightest beam possible. Not terrible for a pocket/key chain light. It will get you around a room or out of a drain in a pinch. Here is the Nano
This is with batteries with at least 3 hours on em. I love it. Bonnie loves hers. Again I am aprox 15 ft from the wall. Both lights were shown from the same position & the camera never moved. What a difference. This does not adjust so it is only a flood. But even so it out shines the mag on both(flood/distance) with only one setting. It is aluminum, has fine threads & an O'ring. Very tight tolerances, head is smooth & the batteries don't rattle. But they are easy to remove. It runs on 4 LR41 watch batteries. I found a site that sells them in sheets of 100 for $5.95 & they shipped them for free. So that makes this a very cost effective light. The clip is very sturdy but is easy to remove for relocation. It's so lite you can hold in mouth with no strain. According to the packaging it is weather proof, 10 lumens & last up to 8 hours.
I guess I should have given this it's own thread since it kinda turned into a review. I give it a 10 out of 10

You can tell that Clyde knows what he is talking about because he tells how easy it is to hold the light in your mouth. That is a very important feature. Especially if you can hold it easily in your mouth with your lips closed around it well. It makes life alot better in those instances when you need both hands and don't have a headlamp.

True! The amount of time I've spent dribbling like an imbecile, trying to hold a light in my mouth...

Where did you order it from? I definitely want 2-3 after those comparison shots. Every 6 months I'm amazed at where we go in the evolution of flashlights. 3 years ago I have a $50 led light that wasn't as bright as this. Same thing with my headlamp, unthinkable power even 2-3 years ago for the same price ($20)

Cheapest I found for the light. It is available all over the place. I got mine @ a local gun shop/camping store. Even cheaper Batteries. I also found both on Ebay for around the same prices.

You can find those batteries in dollar-stores here, like 10 for 1$, they are pretty robust, I used two in an xa and never needed to replace them for a few years until I dropped the camera. For some reason I never see cheap flashlights in the camping and hunting stores around here. They are to busy trying to sell $40 equivalents.

You can barely buy even good quality LED lights retail over here. Basically, camping shops might stock LED Lenser, and maybe Surefire, but beyond that, you're off to the internet. Those nasty D-cell incandescents we've been using for decades are still the norm, with low-power LEDs slowly making inroads.

That sux. I like to feel in my hand or at least look at a box before I buy. Plus it makes it easier for a return if there is a problem.

Funny you should mention returns! My Preon 2 body tube arrived yesterday... but they sent blue, instead of black. They say they'll ship out the correct one right away, and that I can send the other one back. Problem is, shipping from here is more expensive than just ordering another one! Crazy Hong Kong mail rates, I don't know how they do it.

Right, so I'm officially using my little AAA keyring light in place of all my other fancy lights, for getting around in the dark when exploring. The low isn't as low as that of the Quark, though.
