Lucky guy.

Don't be too sure. (I hope believe you're joking) If that happened to my wife, I'd be screaming for blood.

GM recalls 1.3 million cars over steering fault
Power steering problem in Chevys, Pontiacs linked to 14 crashes, 1 injury

General Motors Co is recalling 1.3 million compact cars in North America to address a power steering problem that has been linked to 14 crashes and one injury, the company said on Tuesday.

U.S. safety regulators opened an investigation on Jan. 27 into approximately 905,000 Cobalt models in the United States after receiving more than 1,100 complaints of power steering failures.

The recall covers the 2005-2010 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007-2010 Pontiac G5 in the United States; 2005-2006 Pontiac Pursuit sold in Canada, and the 2005-2006 Pontiac G4 sold in Mexico, GM said in a statement.

Here's the thing with the GM Recall; GM is doing themselves unlike Toyota which now has the entire US DOT looking up their skirt in their stupidity.

It seems like you are defending a company that was on the edge of bankruptcy and had to accept a government bailout. Im sure Toyota can bailout GM several times over right about now, even with the problems they are having.

The problem is that people are weak and cannot turn a steering wheel with no Power Steering. It's only at low speeds, and they're paying for it all.

My Fiero had no PS. I rather enjoyed it. No one could drive my car cause they were weak.

Really though.... if you're cruising down the road with one hand on the wheel...(and likely one on a coffee or a cell phone or something) and suddenly you're forced to use ten times the effort to turn your vehicle left or right, there might be a few seconds of challenges before you can physically be in a position to have leverage on the wheel.
That's not about being weak.

If you're cruising down the road, you really don't need power steering. It doesn't help much when you're moving fast. It's more for when you're barely moving that you need power steering.

I do believe GM pulled out on NUMMI too. Also I read today Toyota sales are up 24% this past month despite the recalls.

So? GM is up 12%, Ford is up 43%. Everyone is going up.

And GM pulled out of NUMMI because Toyota is going to shut down this month.

Look a little further, Toyota said it'd stay. GM pulled out and left Toyota hanging with the plant and all its workers. In fact, GM has already left the operations and Toyota kept the plant open until this month.
